Eloise (obviously), Madeline, American Girl books, Little House on the Prairie, The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables/Avonlea, The Saddle Club.
ETA: reading comprehension fail- but preschool I loved Eloise, Madeline, Paddington Bear, Corduroy, Hop on Pop, and my mom read me the Little House on the Prairie series. The others were grade school.
thank you! I was just describing this book the other day to someone and I could not remember the name of it. No one else knew what I was talking about.
Such a cute book. And it's funny how reading this as a child it seemed perfectly normal for a dog to babysit a baby.
I loved the jolly postman and the shel Silverstein books amongst many others. My all time favorite was this a nursery rhyme book. I looooved reciting nursery rhymes.

Have you ever heard Shel Silverstein read his own books? At the day care I worked at we had The Giving Tree with the audio CD. Freaked the kids out every time!
My favorites were "The Little Engine that Could", "Willy Woo Woo", and the mister book... I still remember the anticipation of getting tickled at the end of reading Mr. Tickle.

I loved this book and knew it off by heart by kindergarten (I thought at the time that I was reading it, but I was just reciting it, I think).
I also remember loving all the Little Miss and Mr books, The Cat in the Hat (and Comes Back), and Noddy books.
ETA: Remembered some others! I also loved Richard Scarry books, especially this one:
BFP #1: July 12, 2010 Natural M/C: July 26, 2010
BFP #2: January 30 ,2011 Born: September 29, 2011
BFP #3: January 5, 2013 Born: August 25, 2013
I love "if you give a mouse a cookie." I'm not sure why but it was my all time favorite.

I wish my dog would babysit L so I could go out drinking!
I was obsessed with these four. I think it was because my mom never let us have a pet.
Now that you've reminded me, I'm going to have to order them for L!
Duh:
Also:
"Not school aged but preschool aged."
Oh. Missed this part.

ETA: And Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic (favorite poem being Mrs. McTwitter the Babysitter!)
Bread and Jam for Frances:
The Poky Little Puppy
All the Peter Rabbit (and friends) Books by Beatrix Potter
Little Engine That Could
Caps For Sale
Monster At the end of the Book
Story of Ping
I love the ones everyone shared already. What a fun post Penny!
I loved Popcorn, Richard Scarry (got Edison a bunch of them/awesome illustrations), Golden Books, The Little Duck and also the Serendipty Books...
And I swear there is a book about kittens getting into cans of paint, but I can't find the name.
Edison already has a sweet vintage Golden Books collection.
Ohhhh, good ones!
