Surprisingly, I could not find anything when I searched on Parent Profiles.com. I would guess some of you are using that website to advertise to BMs. I've read a lot about it outside of the bump and it seems to be the best form of advertising out there.
I had two quick questions. First, do you use a toll free number for BMs to contact you and if so, who do you go through?
Second, do you mark off what you are willing to accept (as far as drug exposure, ethnicity, etc) when you set up your profile?
DH and I are strongly considering going through an independent adoption attorney so I'm trying to make sure I understand what I'll need to do on my own, since we won't have an agency handling the little details.
Thanks!
Re: Parent Profiles.com
We are with an agency, but we've still chosen to list our profile with Parent Profiles. We have an 800 number (a requirement of our agency) and we have it listed on our profile. We use kall8.com and it's pretty affordable and the service has been reliable so far.
I think it's important to be up front and honest on your profile as to what you are okay with... so, it's a good idea to check off what you are open to on your Parent Profiles profile as well. This way, an expectant mom won't contact you if you aren't open to her situation, which will be fairer to her than finding out after contacting you that you are open to race/drug use/whatever.
Thanks so much for the information! Good luck in your journey!
We would use it..and be completely honest with what we are open too..however, we are in Ohio. It is illegal to advertise on the internet or anywhere else on your own. )Although I have seen several people doing it in Ohio, it is illegal..)
I think it couldn't hurt if it is legal in your state.
