C-sections

c section vs VBAC question

Those of you who had a planned RCS, were any of you told you were a good candidate for a VBAC but still felt more comfortable with a c-section.   My drs told me I was a good candidate but a lot of the risks worry me to the point that I would prefer to still go with a RCS.

Re: c section vs VBAC question

  • If I could VBAC I would...I hate the fact that I have to have another c-section when #2 comes.

  • My pro VBAC doctor, would have allowed me to try if I wanted to but advised me to have a repeat cs given my history with DD and the fact that I was measuring ahead. In the end I decided c-section.
  • I was a good candidate but I opted for the c/s because I felt more comfortable with it.

  • My OB said I could try VBAC if I wanted, just like she said I could try to do vaginal with DS, but she was 95% sure I would end up with a c/s either way. I will be getting a RCS.
  • My OB said I could try for a VBAC with my second but I'd probably end up having  a repeat c/s since I have a bony or convergent pelvis.  I felt more comfortable with a repeat c/s and will have another one in October when Baby #3 is due.

  • I'm not sure which I would have preferred but wasn't given a choice.  My OB told me before my first c/s that all other deliveries would be c/s.  She was obviously not pro vbac.  I went into labor early w/ #2 and it had only been a year between pregnancies so vbac may have been a bad idea.

My recovery w/ c/s #2 was such a piece of cake that I'm glad it was a c/s.  I'm having my third next month and hope it's as easy as last time.

I asked about VBAC b/c I was feeling pressure that I should want one. He said I was not a good candidate and I was relieved. I honestly think if he would have said I was a good candidate that I would have probably gone the RCS route anyway. I had a great experience with my first Csection so it is what I know!

This.  I was considered a good candidate for a VBAC and after going into labor on my own before my scheduled RCS with #2, I think I would have had a fair shot at a VBAC, but my RCS was a good experience and I have no regrets.

  • If I was a good candidate for a VBAC there is still no way in hell I would do it. I had a hellacious labor and all kinds of complications that stemmed from my induction. My experience in the OR during my section was pretty crappy too but despite fever, major pain and hemorrhaging they still put DD skin to skin while they were operating which I am totally thankful for. As soon as I was out of the OR and got something to drink I felt great. My c/s recovery wasn't too bad considering all of my previous complications so I am hoping for smooth sailing after my repeat.
