Does anyone know when you receive the discount coupons off the registry like at Target or Babies R US? I am worried that if I put the birth date as her real due date then we will not receive the coupons until after or super close to her birth and I would much rather buy what we need in advance. Thanks for the help!
Re: Registry discount question
We just registered at BRU yesterday. They told us we'd get the registry completion coupons (one for online use, one for in-store use) "a few weeks" before our due date. She did say, if we needed to purchase something before our completion coupon came, we could ask at the store for their "store copy" or something like that, but we would have to use it in the store the same day they gave it to us.
I was surprised to learn they now accept returns for registry items for 9 months after your due date - regardless of whether you have a receipt/gift receipt or not. She recommended if we were buying anything ourselves (or had already purchased it), to add it to our registry so those items would also be eligible for the 9 month return policy. I think this policy is great considering we're registering for things that we won't necessarily be using right away (i.e. high chair, bouncer, etc.).

I changed my due date to 1 mo early for both. Had to get mine at the store for BRU, which was fine. Ironically it came in the mail 1 week later. Target, I still have not received. Asked about it at the store & the person was most unhelpful "That's not something we do here". Um, ok. Can you tell me how to get it? No? Gee, thanks. Between the crappy service I got setting up the registry & the lack of completion coupon, i'm glad I decided to finish out my registry on Amazon instead of Target. Plus the prices were way better.
FYI, if you decide to set up a Amazon registry (for completion), you only need 1 week before you can 'complete' it and use your coupon. Make sure you get items FBA (filled by amazon) or sold by amazon for the free shipping. Plus there's no tax. That fact alone saved hubby & I roughly $40 on our purchase.
