Traveling

Me and LO flew from NC to CA last night. That was loads of fun. Anyone traveled with their infants and have fun stories?

    I sense sarcasm.

We're planning to fly with our guy when he's around 6-7 months. Any survival tips?

  • I could use some survival tips. My family is giving me grief about bringing my son across the country to meet everyone and my wife and I are worried about planning any trips within the first 6-9 months...tips would be helpful?

When did a lot of you guys start traveling with your kids?

  • Someone better post juicy tips soon, or I'm going to have to invite the ladies to come take over this thread. Just sayin' :)

  • We took a flight that was suppose to leave 820 pm but it got delayed by 45 min. We normally put her down around 730 pm for the night and shes normally fine with that. We were hoping that she would just fall asleep around 730 and all would be good. We got to the airport around 6 ish and she was just wailing like we were horrible patents. People were staring like they always do and I'm sure some of the people on our flight were like ah hell ... And we were flying stand by so we weren't 100 percent we were gonna make the flight. We ended up getting on the flight and DW had some tips to keep the babies ears from popping was to fed her while taking off and landing. So we ended up sitting on the plane for about 30 min with a crying baby but once we took off she started eating she fell right asleep and only woke up once to eat and went right back to sleep. The whole flight was good it was just getting on the plane and up in the air that was a pain. It took her a day to get back on schedule. There's a 3 hours difference from here to there and she was kind of mainly just confused on what the time was. It's day 2 and she's back on schedule. We just do things as. Close to normal as we can and baby goes with the flow

Flew from TX to AZ when DS was almost 3 months. Here's what I will say: eff the haterzzz. But really, people are going to side eye and probably biitch about having a kid on a flight; their friggin problem who cares. It'll just stress you out if you care about what they think.

Ditto to PP to feed during take off/  landing; passy can do the trick too if your LO will take one.

Finally, I will say, even with the time difference, try to stick with baby's routine/ schedule. AKA DS went to sleep at 9 in TX, so I tried to get him "down" by 7 in AZ. Don't stress if it doesn't work every day while you're traveling but its good to try your best so LO doesn't get confused.

Make sure you have extra outfits pack for LO, I went through like 3 bc of blow outs on the plane. Lots of blankets and burpcloths come in handy too.

If your DW BFs, even though some ladies hate this/ side eye, I would personally go in the bathroom and sit on the toilet. I say this because, you're not all cramped up with the people next to you. You don't have to worry about the nursing cover/ someone seeing boob. And for me the airplane gets SO hot and the bathroom  was so much cooler and relaxing to BF LO.
