My LO is apparently very cozy in there so its looking like I'll have to be induced....which I've heard puts you at a greater risk for csection, which I might have to do anyway for medical reasons. Anyone have to have a csection after being induced? What do you think my odds are? What should I know?
Re: Induction turned into csection?
We can't tell you what your odds are. Ask your OB to discuss your bishop score (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_score). That was what pushed me in the direction of a scheduled c/s instead of an induction- I was at a 0, and had no interest in a failed induction turned c/s.
Good luck to you!

I've been induced twice (34 and 35 weeks) due to various complications. The first time was successful and the second time resulted in a c-section. The failed induction was because baby wasn't tolerating labor well and it was safer to get her out quickly.
It would be smart to talk with your OB about when they'd decide an induction had failed. Even though it ended in a c-section, I was glad we tried the induction with DD2 because a vaginal delivery is often an easier recovery. We moved to the c-section plan after just a few hours, which I appreciated. I know some people have horror stories of going through induced labor, pushing, and ending up with a c-section.
My story is a bit different because I was induced at 38 weeks with HELLP but it did end in a c-section.
I labored unsuccessfully for 24 full hours and my body only dialated to 5 centimeters... that's with a foley balloon and pitocin. Ultimately my lo's heart rate kept dropping with increasing the pitocin so the dr said my only option was a c-section.
Turns out he became transverse after my water broke so he would never have come down vaginally anyways.
I had a c-section after a 3 day induction where I never got passed 3 centimeters. I would suggest to not let them break your water. Once your water breaks the time clock starts ticking. As long as you and baby are tolerating the induction it can continue on for a while. I let them break my water at the beginning of the 3rd day and then 10 hours later they started worrying about potential for infection, so they proceeded with a c-section.
I would just suggest having open communication with your doctor and tell them you would like to try everything possible for a vaginal delivery, so please don't do any interventions that would set a "time constraint".
I was induced the day after my water broke( 36 weeks 3 days). I progressed quickly and then pushed for 2.5 hours. DS didn't want to come down at all so I ended up with a c-section. In my situation, DS was still really high up. I think that was the reason I ended us with a c-section.
Good Luck!!!
My sister was induced with both her boys & it was successful. Then I was induced but with pretty much being closed up, I knew I was a high risk for a c/s. I didn't progress quick at all (even before the induction I was apparently having strong contractions that I didn't feel & those didn't help with progression). And DD wasn't handling the pitocin contractions well. So I had a c/s.
Good luck!
I was induced at 41 weeks. I did get to a 10 and pushed for three hours, but LO was sunny side up and a little bit sideways and I did end up with a csection. If I could re-do it, I wouldn't have the induction that early. I would go until 42 weeks. Babies usually come eventually and due dates can be off! The induction was no fun because they wanted to continuously monitor the baby and I wasn't allowed to walk around while in labor. I also let them break my water and next time I won't.
I was induced on my due date with DS and had an emergency c/s withing 4hrs of the induction starting b/c they lost his HR and it didn't recover in enough time. I think my OB knew that I would end up with a c/s ultimately due to other factors. I had been going in for blood work and NST for the 2wks leading up to my due date.
My WBC was high and they couldn't figure out why, and I had also been contracting for a few weeks with BH that had been really regular, but weren't doing anything productive. I was admitted on a Monday night for observation and long story short by just before noon on Tuesday DS was born.
All I had was pitocin, they didn't put any of the cervical meds in b/c they had more control over the meds since they could shut the pitocin off if they had to.

i just had my first LO via induction/c-section....induction just wasn't healthy for LO...contractions were intense with little dilating, and her heart rate kept fading out, and at one point they lost her heartbeat completely, that's when we were rushed to OR, to find out she was completely wrapped in her chord...i'm thankful they got her out when they did...i don't regret my csection at all, not a bad experience, very quick and painless!
GL to you!

I was induced about 9 days overdue with DD. I labored for 25 hours. I was at 10cm but her head was too big for my pelvis, so we ended up with a c/s.
I don't know your odds, but I always wondered if the doctor could have found out via u/s whether or not this would be an issue before me laboring all that time! Not sure, but it would have helpful to know, rather than me be in pain for so long - argh!
HA! This was the case with me as well. big heads run on my side of the family. so I would say if big heads run in your family you might want to just sign up for the c/section now:) I was induced as well and pushed for 3.5 hours, but I was so glad I tried it. I gave it my all and was ready to throw the towel in because I just wanted to see my kid.
GOD! that sounds awful
