Recs for a waterproof mattress protector?

I'm looking for a mattress protector that would be waterproof and covers the entire mattress. I looked at Target and wasn't really impressed with the feel of their mattress protector.  I looked at One Step Ahead and all they had was the one that just went across the mattress where I prefer something that completely covered the mattress.  Bed Bath and Beyond looked pricy.  DS will be going into a twin bed soon and has gotten sick in bed so I just need complete coverage.  Any recommendations?

Re: Recs for a waterproof mattress protector?

  • We had one from Target and it was crappy...it does its job, but it's constantly sliding around. Didn't like it at all. We have it just as a backup now.

I got these for the girls off Amazon and am very happy with them. They're soft and you don't get that crinkly plastic feel from it. And it fits the mattress really well.

  • Thank you so much for the Amazon rec!   Thanks for the warning about the Target one, it just justified my suspicions that it would not be a good buy.

I actually bought the cheapest zippered plastic mattress protector that Target sells. I think it was less than $10. DS has peed the bed several times since and it's done its job. I did eventually buy a cheap padded fabric mattress cover as well, because it seemed flat and cold without it.
  • I got ours at Sears. They are normally like $ 50 a piece, but I lucked out and they were having a huge sale at the time and they were priced at $19.99 a piece, so I was able to get 2 of them for my twins for less than 1 at regular price. They are really well made and they have some cushion to the top so it doesn't feel like plastic or make crinkling sounds when they sleep.

  • I bought one at walmart for $10 or less (twin size). It fits around the mattress like a fitted sheet. DS has had accidents & gotten sick in bed & it's worked great.
