Pre-School and Daycare

Experience with these parenting books?

I am trying to choose between the following books. Any recommendations or experience? We have a strong willed little man but we would like to give positive discipline a shot :) Our dinner table has become shouting matches and he contantly tells DH that he doesn't love him. He can be sweet as pie but then say such mean things or hits his sister, disregards any sort of correction. Frustration overload for us.

You might want to read Raising your Spirited Child. It was very helpful to us.

I am currently reading Positive Discipline for Preschoolers ( I am halfway through) and really like it as well.

The Strong-Willed Child book is about the polar opposite of Positive Discipline. 2 very different philosophies to parenting. Personally I'm much more about PD, and I agree with PP who suggested Raising Your Spirited Child.

Agreed - we love PD also but you have to really apply it and stick with it.  It's a lot easier to just yell/punish, but in the long run PD aims to have your child behaving properly because they want to and because it's the right thing to do.  not because they're scared of the repercussions. it has worked wonderfully for us.  i like the PD for Preschoolers book, but it's kind of short, you might also want grab the Positive Discipline A-Z book too.  it's a good resource for a quick reference.
