Sizing Up: Weight and Boobs

As of today, I have not gained any weight. But....I have increased plenty in my bra size. I went from a 34C to a 36E (only 36E cause I can't locate 34E).

Is it okay that I have not gained any weight? Anyone else having significant increase in bra size?

Re: Sizing Up: Weight and Boobs

  • I wouldn't be concerned about a lack of weight gain right now, if you are concerned you should consult with your Dr. Many women start 2nd tri at a lower weight than 1st tri due to m/s and food aversions.  My bra size has not increased that much, but everyone is different.

  • my chest ballooned in my first pregnancy early on too. I went from a 34D to a 34G within the first tri or so! This time Im still nursing so my breast size never went down (and therefore hasn't gone back up either... PHEW). Though I went down to a 32 and have so far stayed there.

You can DEFINITELY find 34E though! You can't go to places like VS (but they suck anyhow). Try nordstrom (online if you don't have one locally - free shipping both ways). That is where I get all my bras. If you do have one locally go get fitted :)

If I can find 32Gs, you can def find 34Es ;) I even have a strapless!

  • I've went from a 36B to 36D and am down 12lbs.  I wouldn't worry about it.

  • I am not worried about my weight at all. I am happy to not have gained any.

  • I haven't gained any weight either. I've actually lost a few pounds. I'm only an A cup and my boobs aren't any bigger. I wish they were! LOL

  • I haven't gained much weight maybe a pound or so but my boobs have only gone from like a A to a B. I'm pretty sure in the next week I'm going to balloon in size though with the free breakfast bars in these hotels!
  • I haven't gained any weight, just bloated.  As for bra size, I would say I'm a cup larger; just haven't gone out to get new bras yet.

  • As of last Friday I had gained back 2 of the 5 lbs I had lost, putting me back at my pre pg weight. MS has slowed way down and I am now able to eat (still major food aversions though) so I'm curious if I'm gaining yet. As for my boobs, I'm up an entire cup size from a 34C to a 34D. I swear they look even bigger this morning too.

  • I have gained a cup size and also about 4 lbs. But I was one of the lucky ones who didn't experience m/s or many food aversions.

  • Holy Boobs! I agree about Nordstrom although I am on the other end of the spectrum. I've gone to a nice full B from a wishful B. Not sure about weight.. had lost 7 lbs but m/s is under a little better control now. Can't wait until I have an appetite though- it's still force feeding.

  • re: weight i would just talk to your dr about it. You really aren't supposed to gain much at all in the 1st tri so it probably isn't an issue.

  • At 6 weeks I had pneumonia and lost 8 pounds. I've gained back 4 of them, but still down 4 overall. My boobs were a 38D before I was pregnant and since then they have grown out about a half a cup but have completely filled-out. They're actually quite lovely :)

  • I had gained one pound by the end of the first trimester, which as my dr. explained to me makes it much easier in the long run.  Later on, around 20+ weeks, you'll start gaining really fast just by the way the baby's growing, so it's easier to stay in the target if you start gaining slowly.

As for the bra size, that was the first thing I noticed before I even felt any different - I was not fitting in any of my bras at all!  I haven't officially been refitted, but I just bought some stretchier ones without underwires that are more comfortable and hopefully will last me a little longer - they're also way easier to wash, I can just throw them in the regular wash and even put them in the dryer.

  • I agree that it's not a big deal. I haven't gained any weight but my boobs are getting bigger and heavier. You are probably being more careful about what you eat and drink so I'm sure you're fine.

ETA: I'm not so worried about the weight gain either, I'm just wondering how big I'm going to get since I'm already busting out of 36DD and I don't want to have to shop specialty stores since there are hardly any here.

  • As of last week I had gained 2.5 pounds, although I feel like it's more like 3-4 pounds now. While I've been nauseous, I only got sick twice during the 6th week. My clothes and bra are tighter. My boobs definitely feel fuller and heavier, although I'm still wearing my same size (34C).

I think weight gain and boob size depend on the person, especially if you have morning sickness.

I'm down 8 pounds (but still in the 230s so I'm not worried about the LO not getting any nutrients....there's plenty extra padding to burn for fuel). Morning sickness has been kicking my ass (and been really mean this week).  But I'm starting to pop out the tops of my 40Es.  I think I'll be heading up a cup size or so in the next couple weeks.
