So far, we have only bought toys for holidays. I grew up only getting gifts on holidays/birthdays, but I also want to buy Charlie a special gift once and while just because (good behavior)....but if she starts to act spoiled or entitled it will end there.
I haven't bought them anything since Christmas until last Friday. I bought half of the birthday presents last week. After birthdays I wont be buying again until its time for Christmas.
Except for the baby. He needs a new floor mat and a rocker/vibrating chair.

I buy them all the time. I probably need to cut back on my toy buying, but honestly, I am having as much fun as LO with the new toys.
This exactly. I actually think I buy them for myself because I get bored playing with her toys. Haha I should cut back though. Or put some away and reintroduce in a few weeks/ months.
Occasionally if I'm at the dollar store and I see something that would be useful too like a sand toy for our upcoming beach vacation or a "swiffer-like" device. DS loves the swiffer and anything that looks like a swiffer!

I don't, my DH does! I don't want my LO to think she's always going to get something, you know? DH and I have talked about this. Obviously she's too young now so it's not a big deal, but I don't want to have that kid who breaks down in Target b/c they can't get something - and I don't want to be that mom who grabs something from the Dollar Spot just to shut them up. HAha. Talk to me in a few years though. :-)

I do pretty frequently actually, it's kind of an obsession. It's not always toys tho, sometimes it's clothes, pjs, etc. His toy box and closet are already stuffed.

This is what I do. I haven't started with Dylan yet because he doesn't understand but with Aidan I surprise him with something if I'm amazed at his good behaviour. For instance him and Dylan attended my grandmothers funeral with me this week and he was AMAZINGLY good so the next day I went out and bought him a new sprinkler, a transformer spin brush toothbrush (normally he'd get a regular Colgate toothbrush) and he got some transformer stickers. Nothing major. Then we went out for icecream after dinner and I explained to him that he received those things because he was awesome the day before.
Sometimes. I try not to too often, and when I do it is just small stuff. But when I find myself getting bored of her toys (which I totally agree with, PPs!), I will buy something for Christmas or Birthday, which helps accomplish two goals: One, I am excited for the new purchase; and Two, this spreads out gift spending costs so they don't hit me all at once right before the event.
I wouldn't say I buy them all the time, but I am guilty of buying toys for DS at random times. Usually they aren't big purchases, just little things here and there.
I buy books alot too, but obvioiusly, those aren't considered toys :-)
Pretty much only at consignment sales. I LOVE that he is a July baby because it's pretty much 1/2 a year between Christmas and his Birthday and both are basically the start of new seasons (Winter/Summer).

With DD I did.
Now I would like to kick myself in the rear.

Sometimes, but usually just little stuff like carseat toys, sandbox pails, new bath tub stuff, books.
Basically the stuff we use everyday and get bored with. I'm good about rotating other junk out.
As for big, regular play toys..not so much...but she gets tons of cousin handmedowns so there's always something new in rotation.
I guess I grew up with big toys on the holidays and a small treat every once in awhile.
Both of these.

We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

This is basically our plan too.
Yep, all the time. My mil does too, she has wayy too many toys at her house.
The reason I do it is because I notice LO getting bored with what we've got and new toys thrill him, lol
