I had about 20+ servings of breast milk in our upright deep freezer. Luckily I went in there today to check on things, because our freezer evidently broke. The milk is still frozen through and hard/solid, so I'm going to assume it's OK. I moved it to our regular freezer and we'll defrost and use it soon. But ugh. We don't go through pumped milk that quickly, but I guess we will be now! Plus I have to figure out if it's worth fixing the freezer. Not to mention figuring out how to get the freezer out of there if I need to. UGH!
Re: Freezer broke
It's so lucky that you checked on it! I would go crazy if something happened to my milk, and I don't even have a large stash yet.
Say, you asked a question a few weeks ago about freezing playtex drop-ins and then removing the tops, right? Did you ever figure it out?
Should another hurricane knock the power out this year, I will GLADLY accept my neighbors offer to hook up our freezer to their generator!
If its still frozen you can keep it frozen and not have to use it.
That being said I would probably cry if I lost my 100+ ounce freezer stash cuz the freezer crapped out on me.

Thanks, everyone. Yeah, I'm saying it's all still OK...and the freezer seems to be working again...but I'm hesitant to move my stuff back in there. Eep.
In answer to the above, yes! Someone on the baby gear board pointed me towards Amazon. The top review there details how to do it. Basically, freeze the liners upright by setting them in a bottle. Once they're frozen remove the liners from the bottles and lid pieces and move the plain liners into a freezer bag. It's working great so far!
Okay, just checking. That's the system I'm using and it's working great for me too!
