Trying to get him to sleep in the crib is so frustrating!

I've been trying to get Lincoln to sleep in his crib for at least 1 nap a day. He usually sleeps in his snugabunny swing and rock n play. Last week, we had success! He took a 2 hour nap in his crib and it probably would've been longer if my H wouldn't have slammed the front door. Well now I will rock him to sleep (drowsy but awake does NOT work on my child unless it's after his 4 am feed) but as soon as I put him in the crib, he stretches or flails his arms out and he wakes up. How are you crib sleepers doing it??

Swaddling is the only thing that works for us.  If DS is swaddled he doesn't care where he sleeps.  We transitioned him from cosleeper to bassinet to crib seamlessly.

  • G was originally sleeping in the RNP. After R would leave for work in the morning, I would side nurse him in our bed. We would both go back to sleep after this which I think got him used to sleeping on a flat surface. From there, I started doing his morning naps in his crib, which then extended to all naps and nights in his crib. It worked out very well for us, and he's been sleeping in his crib for the past 3 weeks.
  • Also swaddling. We got the swaddle strap and it's been working great. Otherwise, LO startles herself and we start from square one again.
  • When you put him down kinda snuggle him and hold his arms and legs down like he is being swaddled.  My LO does the same thing.  One time I was just holding her arms and I was like, "YES!!!" when she was settling in then suddenly her legs just dropped and she flailed and woke up.  She takes her 2 hour afternoon naps in there.  I didn't want her to get used to the RNP.

We swaddle at night but during the day it's too hot since we live in AZ, it's around 109 here right now.

Thanks! I'll try that. I don't want him to get too used to the RNP either..

We swaddle for naps as well as nighttime so I'm not much help but I also do something similar to pp. I keep my hands over his chest and legs for a minute after I put him down. The gently pressure usually settles him after he hits the mattress.
