March 2013 Moms

Let's talk baby names.

Because you know you're already thinking about them!

My fave girl name atm is Coralee Ann.  Ann is both our mom's MNs and MIL's first name is Lea.  I don't think just Cora would sound as good with DD's name - Emmalynn Helene.  Our last name is suuuuuper generic and boring, so DH wanted to have more interesting names.

For boys, I thought we had agreed on Connor Allen before knowing DD was a girl, but apparently DH changed his mind.  Both DH and FIL have Allen as a mn, so I'm assuming that a son would have it, too.  I just don't like boy names as much and find it's more difficult to come up with something we both like.

What do you love lately?

Re: Let's talk baby names.

  • I am a baby name book junky and I have been picking names for future children since I was in grade five! I wouldn't say we have anything concrete quite yet but at the time being we are thinking Calvin James for a boy and Isla Elizabeth. I am sure we will come up with others and our minds will change but, for now that is what we like.

Oh my gosh. I have been thinking baby names forever! The Baby Name Board is like crack to me lol :) I think we are pretty set on Dean for a boy, but aren't sure about middle names. I agree, boy names are much harder for us.

I love way too many girl names, but at the moment I'm loving Greta, Matilda, Ramona, and June. I fear that I will change my mind all the way up until baby is born! My name list is in my siggy if anyone wants to look and/or vote. :)

I really like your name choices sucrets! I especially like Connor Allen.

    ETA: Fixed wall of text.

    I like Dean!

And Greta is my fave out of those 4.

I'm so happy with DD's name - I love all of the nicknames that people have come up with for her.  The only annoying thing is that people think I'm saying Emily when I introduce her to them, but whatever.  Most of the time I just introduce her as Emma these days.

How does your H feel about your names?  Once I decided on DD's name (and H said he liked it), I gave up and told him it will be that unless he does the work and comes up with something better.    It worked.

  • CityBee - Matilda is on my list too.  I love it!

    So girl names:

    Alice
    Annalise
    Lila
    Molly

And boy names (much tougher for us):

    Maxwell
    Elijah
    Gabriel
    Theodore

  • We decided a long time ago on a girl name. It will be Abbie. Not 100% sure on the middle name, but DH wants to use my middle name.. Marie.

We cannot agree on a boy name. We do know that the middle name will be his and his dad also has same middle name.. Ray.

Two of my top picks had been: Ethan (which DH doesn't like) and Gavin (which he said is okay).

  • I'm pretty sure we've already got them picked, but here are my favorites right now:

    Girls:
    Elizabeth
    Anna
    Charlotte
    Claire

    Boys:
    Jude
    Micah
    Liam
    Caleb

ATM we both like Halyn for a girl and our boy choices are Kylar, Reed, or Hoyt. We're a little different.

  • Hmmm.... Out of the few that I've read on here, I like Liam, Elijah, and Dean.

My husband and I are pretty set on Alyss Vivian for a girl. Alyss after a character in my favorite book series. I also like Molly (from the same series lol). We think it's a cute name with a neat spelling. Vivian was my great grandmother's middle name and she was the strongest, bravest, toughest, most loving and caring  woman I've ever known. And I much prefer Vivian to her first name (Etta). For boys, the only name that I really like atm is Benjamin. Possibly Tirian. A middle name option is Lucas (after my brother who is one of the sweetest young men you'll ever meet). Glad to have some new ideas. :].

  • We decided on all family names:

Boy:  Parker Ivan Alan (Parker = my maiden name, Ivan = my dad's middle name, Alan = hubby and FIL middle name)

Girl:  Lila Dawn Lee (Lila = my great grandma's name, Dawn = my and my mom's middle name, Lee = MIL midd name)

     Sound ok??

  • We have mn's picked out, lol. Margrethe (Mar-gret-uh, Norwegian) after MIL and Francis after my grandfather.

    First names we're looking at:

    Boys:
    Henry
    Jack
    Oliver
    Samuel
    Thomas

    Girls:
    Caroline
    Elise
    Esther
    Laura
    Susanne

  • I know my hubby and i have been talking about baby names before we even found out im pregnant lol. For a boy we decided on Colton Michael. Colt for short. If its a girl we are going to name her Kylie Marie. It took us awhile to find a great baby boy name that was to both our liking but we finally found one!
  • DH and I like Elaina and Vivienne/Viviana for a girl. Rowan or Gavin for a boy. :) we also change our mind every week so I'm sure this will be different in a few months!

  • The names are already decided.

If it is a boy, his name will be Anderson Lewis.... which is a combination of my maiden name and my mom's maiden name.  We agreed to let DH name our son, Jeffrey, after both of his grandfathers (as he was), so we agreed to represent my side of the family more prominently and he liked the name.

If it is a girl, we have a name picked out, but as of now, we have told no one what it is.  I will say this much, we are naming our first daughter after her great grandmothers, well the 2 that are still with us.

EDIT: grammar that just bugged me.

  • We always liked Connor, but now it feels like I bump into a Connor daily and it's losing its appeal. I also like Logan and Liam.

We'd never agreed on a girl's name until a few days after BFP. We like Sawyer. But that will probably change before baby comes. I also love Harper and we both like Emily. Middle name will be a family name.

  • My DH and I keep going back and forth on names, it mostly my fault, LOL, I can't seem to make up my mind, but as of right now these are the ones we have so far:

    Boys:

    Lucas Michael or Lucas Jacob

Evan Michael (Michael is my DHs middle name)

    Girls:

    Alyssa Sophia

Miabella Sophia (my favorite so far, DH, not so much)

**Married to My Best Friend Since 04/2010**

    **Success After Loss**

  • DH really wants John David, after both our fathers.  I think it's too plain.  I would prefer Joseph John.

My favourite is Jocelyn Jean, but DH is sticking with a name that I had liked years ago; Charlotte Jean.

At the risk of sounding somewhat stalker-ish (ok, VERY stalker-ish) I was on P&E (when it was P&E) on the knot, mostly a lurker, when you were on there and pregnant with Emmalynn. I can't believe she's two! She's beautiful!

I have two girl names picked out (in case of twins, it runs it my family and due to IVF, that risk goes up more), Adalyn Mary, (Mary after my great-grandmother who lived to be 102 and was a fabulous woman) and Alayna Inez (Inez after my dad's mother who died when he was 19, I never met either of his parents).

The only boys name we have right now is Hudson James (James after my dad). I also had Owen Bayleigh (Bayleigh is DH's dad's middle name) but DH nixed Owen because he knows an Owen that he hates.

  • First, thank you for all the ideas!  I think I jotted five more names into both the boy and girl columns of my names list :)

    Right now my faves are:

Boy - Cohen, Donovan, Grady, Sullivan, Milo (DH only likes Grady out of that list)

Girl - Cordelia, Moira, Ione (totally got flamed for that one on the names board), Sidney, Marcy

    I didn't slap you; I high-fived your face.

Hi!!  Your sn looks familiar!  Holy crap, the days of P&E were soooo long ago.  I pop on to E occasionally and barely recognize anyone anymore.

Congrats on your bfp!  When are you due?

My cousin named his DD Adalyn and I love it!  Alayna is nice, too.  And I love names that have meanings.  :-)  Both of DH's grandma's are Evelyn, but his cousins had already claimed it.  So, Emmalynn is close.  And Helene is for my mom's mom who passed away when my mom was 11.

I like your boy names, too.  Why are they so much more difficult??  Ugh.  It's also hard since I'm a teacher, so I think of certain kids with certain names.

Good to see you and GL with your pregnancy!

  • I was hoping someone would bring this topic up! I love reading everyones ideas, makes me feel like a kid again picking out names for my dolls, except oh-so-much more real!! Sorry I'm a dork like that.

So far our boy name which we are set on is Gabriel, I absolutely love that, and it goes perfect with our last name. DH likes that we would call him Gabe.

As for a girl, we wanted to try to find a G name as well.... we were kind of thinking Giuliana -- like Giuliana Rancic from E! network;) haha. I like the sound of it.

Who knows though, I'm sure we could possibly run across something that could change our minds.

Oh and middle names -- Gabriel Michael (DH's name), or Gabriel Thomas (my father's name)..... Guiliana Kathryn (my Mother's name)... and we have tossed around using a name from his side also.

  • We have a boy name picked out no problem. Girl names seem to be way more difficult for us to agree on!

For a boy, we'll go with Carter Wayne (Wayne is my dad's name) and we'll really have to look at some name books for girls. The only thing we both really agree on for a girl name is Avery or Anabella (Bella for short), although we both have A names and worry that might be a little corny.

    My girl list includes:

Raegan Diane (MIL's name is Rae Ann and my mom is Diane)
    Meredith Diane
Juliana Rae (DH doesn't love this)
    Madison Diane
Genevieve Diane (DH hates this one lol)

I can't decide if I want something a little more trendy or more traditional.

  • Girls: Emma, Stella, Claire, Lola, Nora

    Boys: Henry, Liam, Keith, Tyler

We are pretty much decided though, Emma Lynn or Henry Lee. Both middle names are family names. I absolutely hate nicknames so we are choosing names that cannot be nicknamed easily (For example, I love Joshua but hate Josh, and I love Lucas but hate Luke, so those names are out).

No clue on a boy name yet, but my husband thinks that Walter is a good name, never going to happen...
