Doorbells need to be illegal

Like seriously. I hate the stupid thing. At about 5pm I tried to lay down since DD was sleeping & I had managed to eat something. I don't think I was in bed for 10 mins when the stupid thing went off. Twice. Did I answer it? Heck no. No one called & said (or should I say ask - b/c that's the polite & considerate thing to do, right?) he, she or they were coming over. Then at about 7:30pm DH got home. I got up, talked to him & went downstairs. Stupid thing went off again.

It was freaking MIL. I'm just thinking, "You've got to be kidding me." The only reason why I answered the door was b/c DH was home & figured there was a 99.9% chance it was her. It was probably her earlier too. She apparently didn't learn anything from the beginning of the week. Oh & what did she want? For DH to play chauffeur for her again. Yeah because that's what he needs after working all day after having had oral surgery yesterday. Yeah. And I just realized that he had just taken his Vicodin & she's having him drive her around.

Re: Doorbells need to be illegal

  • I have a sign on my doorbell that says do not ring, quiet zone and a sign on my door that says do not knock, quiet zone, call cell, no solicitation ... the dog wakes up DS1 and DS2 by barking at either...

Someone actually knocked this week while all three of us was napping DH answered the door asked the person if they could read and then slammed the door in the sales man's face.

  • And motorbikes.  Some jerk drove down the street in front of our house today with his ridiculously loud motorbike and woke DD up right after I finally got her asleep for a nap.  Wanted to kill him!

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • For a while I managed with a piece of painter's tape over the button. With this one I have a piece of cardboard taped over the bell with a note "please do not ring bell." we don't have dogs, but the chime is up the stairs close to the kids' rooms.

  • Yeah the chime for ours is right next to the ceiling in the kitchen, which means it's directly below our bedrooms.

The thing that gets me is she knows we have a baby. Which means there's always a good chance (on a good day) that DD is sleeping. But does she care? No. Because it's about her & what she wants. And she gets rides into town expecting DH to drive her back & knowing that there's pretty much no one else that would be willing to drive her back. So DH ends up being stuck driving her.

  • ooo that would make me angry too :(

I guess I should be thankful our doorbell is broken, lol.

  • We've been meaning to install our for a couple of years and now I'm glad we didn't!
  • Guess im lucky. Ava is so used to the dogs barking etc when she was in my tummy she sleeps through it all. She only wakes up when time is getting close for her to wake up anyway.
