Ok so Im a FTM and pland to babywear but I had a question about what you do If you go out to eat with LO. Do you wear LO or Is that one of the times you will keep LO in a carseat until old enough for a high chair?
I wear baby in a Baby Ktan (super easy to sit down in) until they don't hang out there nicely anymore (closer to a year) and then we let them sit on our lap or in a high chair. It's super super rare that we'll bring the carseat in. But I'd rather hold my baby then look at them in the carseat, so that's what I do.

We used to take the bucket carseat until he was about 3 mo old (we switched to a convertible then because I usually just wore him anyhow...) After that we played "pass the baby" at the table. I was always concerned I would drop hot food on him, so I balanced him on a knee or passed him off and we would take turns eating. It was great when he was old enough for a high chair!
I did a lot of eating with one hand while holding him in my lap. Unless he had fallen asleep in the Ergo...then I left him and just dropped a lot of food on his head :P. And if he fell asleep in the car seat, I would've left him in there too (but that rarely happened...he hated that thing). But plenty of times I wore him into a restaurant, took him out of the carrier and just sat him on my lap while we ate.
Oh, once he fell asleep in the Ergo and we had a booth, so I carefully laid him down next to me on the booth seat and he slept while we ate.
When DD was small I wore her in the Moby while eating. We switched to the car seat and/or mine or DH's lap when she became too tall for that to be comfortable and very shortly after that we switched to the high chair.
My son HATES being in a carrier when we're sitting. We use a moby, a ktan, and an ergo, and he hates it in all of them If he's awake, we play pass-the-baby, and he sits on our laps. If he was asleep she we got there, we'll put him in the stroller or carseat. He's not quite big enough for a restaurant high chair, so we haven't tried that yet.

Your baby might dictate the answer. We had a carseat screamer. And if she was in a carrier you damn well better be moving. Lol. So we did a lot of pass the baby. Or I breastfed when she was tiny. I would bf while dh ate, then we would switch. Or he would hold her while I ate, then switch. I think we LO was pretty high maintenance though...
Often the restaurant will dictate it for me - many that we go to it would just be a major PITA to have her car seat. Other times, when the option is available I just would rather wear her, but there have been a few occasions where I have had her hang out in her car seat while I was actually eating, but other then that we would play pass the baby... I don't like keeping her cooped up in her car seat if we can avoid it... she's a snuggly baby!
Up until 6 months I always wore him when eating out.
At 6 months, he started eating with us, so I sat him on my lap during meals so he could eat.
At about 8 months he was big enough to put in a restaurant highchair (with a cover - he's still a little small for the highchair without) and that's how we eat.
However, depending on timing, I will wear him in the carrier until food comes if he's sleeping, or after we eat if he's tired.
If my baby is still sleeping in her carseat from the car then I allow her to stay in it until she starts to fuss. Then I put on my Moby wrap and continue my meal. That thing is a life saver. I don't know what I would do without it. It frees up your hands so you are still able to eat.
I have only worn DD while eating out once, it was on our Maya Wrap and she was kangaroo-ed and about 3 months old. She was a happy one but I was really nervous so I got finger foods, so I wouldn't have to worry about trying to cut anything with a knife lol mostly she sits in her carseat, which she is amazing in. They have those sling things to put it in so she's at the same level as the table and can see everything. We've eaten out probably a dozen times since she was 19 days old and she's always been wonderfully well behaved.
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
Re: babywearing and eating out
Carseat.
I had a car sleeper, though, so it was easy.

I just did whatever worked that day...
