STM's who BF

Has anyone tried lily padz?  I didn't hear about them until we were close to done BFing DS #1 so I never bought them with him.  I was thinking about buying them this time.  Are they better than the regular disposable ones?  I was constantly leaking through the disposable ones and had to double up on occasion.

  • I had them with my first and didn't really like them. I used the Medela pads that you could wash and liked them a lot better. Good luck.

  • I asked this on the bf board a few weeks ago - and the most popular reusable nursing pads recommended were bamboobies.

  • I bought them thinking I would use them at night so I didn't leak and could sleep without a bra. I decided just to sleep on a towel and change my shirt as necessary and never used them. I kept them for this time, so we'll see. I may also try a reusable/bamboo pair. You can find a bunch on etsy.

  • I never tried them, but I doubt that I would like them because I would never remember to wash them and would end up having to use regular disposables anyways.

I used the Lansinoh brand pads, and I only had a problem with leakage from them if I blatantly left them in too long.

  • I used them for swimming and occasionally sleeping and liked them just fine for those purposes. For daily use, though, I preferred either reusable cotton or disposable pads. I think I'll do all reusable pads this time and prob get 1 pair of the Lillypadz like last time for when I don't want to wear a bra.

  • With both DS and DD, I regulated my supply within a month, so I used disposable for both kiddos. This time, I've heard of "Milkies" (I think that's the name) that are sort of like pads, but they collect the milk for storage purposes, and I'm interested in trying those this time... I only saw an ad in a magazine, and haven't done research yet so I'm not sure where to find them yet, tho...

One of the girls on my BMB last time around used these and was able to save bags and bags of milk this way.  I never leaked that much, so it probably wouldn't work for me.  I've never used lilypadz either, but I just used a cheap pair of washable nursing pads I was given (sealed and unused) by a family member who had never used them, and they worked just fine for me.  I'm pretty sure she probably picked them up at Target or something, they were some name brand, but I can't remember which.

  • I'm definitely trying Milkies this time around. I have a crazy letdown and whichever boob DD wasn't nursing on, I'd soak through a pad in like a minute or two. I always wondered how much milk I was wasting!

I think you can get them at Nickisdiapers.com.
