I have had regular ultrasounds due to high risk and I know the estimated baby weight can be off quite a bit but baby has been consistently measuring in 50-60th percentile. Today's weight is estimated at 6lb 8oz @ 36 weeks. That seems like a lot to me!! I was SURE that I would be having a teeny baby as I was 4.5lbs and DH was 7lb. I am still pretty tiny and have only gaine 23lbs ( now at 141lbs) far but it's all belly.
The thought of pushing out an 8-9lber is freaking me out!
For STM who had lots of growth ultrasounds, how true were they in the end?
Re: Little me.... Big baby?
I was 7lbs4oz when born. Not sure about DH. I gained only 18lbs with DS and he weighed in a 9lbs. Weight gain has pretty much nothing to do with size of the baby. Some ladies gain in excess of 30lbs and have only 6lb babies, others gain less than 20 and have 8 or 9lbrs.
That said, I never had a growth scan with DS. My OB just told me all the way along that he would be average size (even though I measured about a week ahead the whole pg), which I took to mean around 7.5lbs. He was 9lbs even at 40w4d.
I am on target for another tank. This peanut has been measuring 7-9days ahead since my NT scan at 12w.
Meh. DS was measuring 75th percentile my entire pregnancy and he was (only) 7 pounds 11 ounces when he was born almost 2 weeks late. DS2 is on the same trajectory.
I'm itty bitty and I was fine... and med-free.

Good news! an 8lb baby is pretty normal size. and those u/s can be off by as much as a full pound.
I never had one, since they can be so far off, my doc with #1 didn't see the need even though I had GD and had gained a lot of weight. He manually estimated DS to be a 7-8 pounder, but when DS was born he was actually 6lbs 4 oz. ( FWIW, I was 5lbs 14oz at birth and DH was a 10lb baby)
