Last Friday, I posted a BPF at 40 weeks 1 day and asked for labor dust so I wouldn't have to be induced the next week. I had an appt that day and was only dilated 1 cm (no progress from the last two weeks), so we went ahead and scheduled the induction for the next week.
Short story- Nathan Barrett was born Saturday, June 30th at 3:44 PM, 8lbs 15 oz, 20 in. long- pictures at bottom!
Thank you for the dust and all the support!!
Long story- That night, we decided to go out for dinner and had all sorts of things planned for the "last weekend"- sleeping in late, manicure, lots of going out to eat. I started having some menstrual like cramps before dinner, but dismissed it as cramping from the internal. We stayed up late that night, me organizing hospital bags and DH hanging out with his friend in the garage. DH came to bed about 230 AM and I noticed the cramping was getting a little worse, so I told him I might be having contractions. His first response was, "Oh, no Why did I drink tonight!" He went into immediate freak out mode, haha.
For a couple hours, they were about 15 mins apart, then I lost the mucous plug and all the sudden they were 2-5 minutes apart, but lasting only about 30 secs. We called the dr and he said to go on in. I wanted to wait a little longer, so I took a long shower, did some cleaning up around the house (which was planned for the weekend) and ate some breakfast. By the time we left at 730 though, it was getting pretty painful and I told DH he had to make the 20 min drive to the hospital in 2 which was how fast the contractions were (I was fine standing up, but in pain sitting down)
I was 3 cm when admitted but went to 4 pretty fast and got the epidural pretty fast because I couldn't move around like I wanted after they plugged up all the equipment. Everything was great after that. I wasn't making much progress by around noon, so the nurse set me up in bed on a decline with my legs in a frog like position and I went from 4 to 8 very quickly and then was ready to push at around 245 pm. His head was still not moving down past the pelvic bone so she started preparing me for the possibility of different things they would try when I gave one big push and all the sudden he was almost out and then we had to stop so the Dr. could get there. The Dr. said she was going to stop to pee, but when she heard how close he was, decided to skip the bathroom
One more push after she got there, and he was here! She had to tell me to stop because his whole body wanted to come out at once and she needed time to suction before the shoulders came out. I had a second degree tear, but recovery has been good and this week has flown by! We are in love!
