Blended Families

Thanks a ton BM

So SS comes home from two days at her house and we sit down for dinner and SS cheerfully says that he had been puking all day yesterday. Dh texts Bm why she said NOTHING to us and she said he was throwing up because he was tired and had no sleep.

Im about 6 months pregnant and I just threw up in and out of the shower and dh threw up four times at work yesterday and was sent home. A simple heads up- wash your hands an extra amount around SS or for me to totally have avoided him for a minute would have been awesome. Common courtesy.

Note it's a little extra annoying to me because he gets sick every other month at her house because she lives with a ton of people and has a lot of little kids. Vent over as I need to head back to the bathroom

Re: Thanks a ton BM

  • what? I would be so pissed!!! and kids don't puke from being over-tired. clearly he had something contagious.  ugh.

  • I think most illnesses take longer than 2 days to show up...it actually more likely that it's something he picked up while with you, and that's probably why you and your DH have it so quickly as well.

  • I don't think saying "hey our child has been sick all day" when she drops him off is unreasonable.

You said he was throwing up the day before, if he had been fine all that day she probably thought it was done and over, and maybe just something he ate. Sure, a heads up still would have been nice, I will agree with you there. I was just addressing the part where you blamed BM for your family being sick.

  • BM does this a lot to us.  Not just puking, but ring worm, impetigo, various colds and flus, etc.  She plays it off like no big deal - people get ringworm every day.  Or she'll say she thinks they have impetigo, but I'll probably want to have it checked out.  It's common decency to let people know who will be taking care of your child that they've been ill.  That's absolutely not asking too much.
