? for those with frozen sperm - storage fees

If you had to paid for another year of freezing, how much was it?

I just got a bill for the sperm we have frozen and it's almost twice as much as the inital cost to freeze and store.  I'm baffled, I thought I remember reading that it was going to be approximately half the cost of the initial freeze - not double.

I'm going to ask my RE when I'm in there tomorrow, but was wondering if this sounds right?

Re: ? for those with frozen sperm - storage fees

  • We had 4 vials frozen as a just in case. It cost about $250 per vial.  I just got a bill for $300 to freeze them for another year.  I thought $300 was low for the four of them, but didn't question it and just sent the money in.

It does sound like charging you double to just store them isn't right.  Definitely ask your RE.  Good luck!

  • Ours was $350 which was about half the original cost. I would definitely ask. There's no reason it should be more, IMO.

  • We just got a bill in June. The initial freeze was free, but for another year of storage it was going to cost $350.00. We decided to release the sample since we will probably not do another DS IUI in the future. It was almost like flushing $575 down the toilet, but we didn't want to put anymore money into something that wouldn't work.
After 3 years of infertility we were blessed with twin girls through private infant adoption.

  • mine is frozen at a local cryobank and it is much cheaper.  when i need the gizz i schedule a delivery (about $60 bucks) and they bring it over.

    maybe a option for you?
