1st Trimester

10 Weeks Today...Still NO Morning Sickness!!

I was initially very excited to not have morning sickness or nausea until I read several articles saying that women who do not have morning sickness are more likely to miscarry! I was very surprised to read that being that ALL pregnancies are different. I think this is where I stop reading and torturing myself. To this day I have only had the following symptoms: rhinitis of pregnancy, sore breasts/nipples, mild cramping, constipation from time to time, headaches, queasiness after taking prenatals and a cold last week. The only thing that's keeping me positive is my faith and the statistic that says miscarriage drops to 3-5% after the heartbeat is detected, which it was at 8weeks 4days.  Trying to stay calm...

Re: 10 Weeks Today...Still NO Morning Sickness!!

  • Its hard not to worry when pregnant. You just have to tell yourself that an array of symptoms or even a lack of symptoms can be completely normal. Course, I think we might as well get used to the worry bug, we will be worrying about everything from now on until our kids are married off...and even then, we'll probably still worry! I hope you find ways to enjoy your pregnancy!

  • I am throwing up enough for you too. lol. but, really... some of us are dying over here. Trust me, you will be having other strange and uncomfortable feelings soon. Things have gotten pretty real over the past week.

  • I had zero m/s with my DD and have had none so far with this round. Some people just squeak by without it! Just count yourself lucky, and knock on wood that it doesn't come on strong in the 3rd tri!

  • I did not have any m/s during my first pregnancy (and don't with this one) and I went on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Were you by chance on prenatal vitamins before conceiving? I have heard that taking prenatal vitamins prior to getting pregnant can curb the nausea during the first trimester. In any case, enjoy the lack of m/s!

  • I'm 10 weEks today too!! No morning sickness with this pregnancy or with my DD's. I'm considering myself very lucky and I'm SO thankful. Honestly, besides being moody & super tired I don't have any other symptoms. No sore boobs or anything. Some food aversion too. Oh and I'm so bloated.

  • I think that the statement that says no m/s=increased chance of m/c is coincidental and misleading.  Of course there is a decrease in m/s if the baby has stopped growing and HCG is no longer increasing, therefore no longer causing symptoms.  It doesn't mean that no m/s = greater chance of m/c, it just means that miscarriage = a possibility of less or no m/s.  Hopefully that was clear.

I had no MS with any of my pregnancies, but I did get queasy when my stomach was empty and have some food aversions, and lots of gas with my DS and with this pregnancy.

The pregnancy that I miscarried was different than the one with DS and this one because I never had any of those symptoms at all, and felt completely and utterly normal.  I also had no other symptoms to speak of other than sore breasts and a little bit of acne around my hairline.  A few days before I physically miscarried, I actually told a friend that "if I didn't know I was pregnant, then I wouldn't know I was pregnant."  I just knew that something wasn't right for me.

This may be completely normal for you,  and that's the thing to keep in mind.  You are right, every pregnancy in every woman is different.  You are still having symptoms, so that is a good sign, and you are just one of the lucky ones that doesn't have m/s as a symptom.

  • I'm on my third and have never had morning sickness.

I've been nervous with this pregnancy because I've had such mild symptoms as well (occasional headaches and cramping, a little emotional, but thats it!)...but dr assured me its normal and even moved my appt up and did an us to show me my LO happily moving around.

Try not to worry and not to read so much!! I think that was my problem, too much info out there!

Good luck, i'm sure everything will be fine!!

  • I have worried about the same thing myself.  :)  However, I didn't get sick at all with my first and he's now 16 months old.  So far I don't have any signs I will get it this time.  Fingers crossed we both stay lucky. :)

  • I thinks no more sickness is more common than you think. I never had it with my first and my mom never had it with her three. I think some people just don't get it and it has nothing to do with miscarrying.

  • Try not to worry too much! I'm almost 12weeks and haven't had any m/s (although I'm exhausted all the time!) My mom had 4 healthy kids and no m/s, so I don't think the lack of m/s has much to do with m/c.

  • Not everyone gets morning sickness. Relax. You are no more likely to miscarry than anyone else. I know a woman who puked all the way to her 16 week appointment & she lost her baby at 20 weeks. It's completely random.

There are people who are miserable that miscarry & people that feel nothing that miscarry. Nothing you feel/do/say/think will make you more likely to miscarry unless you have other health conditions. Please don't freak people out with repeating information that is unfounded. I wish you the best, but please relax.

  • You're FINE! The statistics just mean that if you have no symptoms, it COULD be because the baby has stopped growing which would mean a miscarriage. The nausea itself isn't doing anything, it's just a sign that something's still happening in there. Symptoms aren't neccesary.

It sounds like you have plenty though so just be thankful.

  • I'm almost 9wks and I also have no m/s!! YAAAY!!! In response to what another mom said, I WAS taking prenatals before being pregnant so I wonder whether that does have anything to do with it..either way I'm glad! I'm also a person who never throws up anyway so maybe that's another factor. I don't think having, nor not having m/s has anything to do with miscarriage and I hear ya about the worrying part but we legit just need to trust that everything happens as it is supposed to. :)

  • Yes! I was taking my prenatals 3 months prior to TTC, Feb. This makes a lot of sense...Thanks!

  • I'm glad i'm not alone! I was considering myself lucky, but all the posts i'd been reading was women with M/S. But I have not had any morning sickness.. I have the sore breasts, tired all the time, headaches and mild cramping. I was taking prenatals before I got pregnant and when I talked to my mom and sister neither of them had M/S when pregnant. So i'm trying to keep my head up Big Smile

  • I haven't really had morning sickness either. Just some queasiness on and off throughout the day. Fatigue has hit me hard though!
  • I'm on my third pregnancy and have never experienced m/s. My first two pregnancies are now nearly 5 and 3! My mom never had m/s either. I have cramping, I'm only 6 weeks and am tired and my breasts hurt like crazy but that's it. That's all I felt with the first two as well.

  • I was taking prenatals for 6 months before I got pregnant, and I have had horrible morning sickness. Enjoy the lack of m/s!

  • Don't worry! Nausea didn't really hit me until 12 weeks... then I spent 2 weeks feeling queasy every day.
  • *lurking*

I would check your source.....and then be happy you aren't like I was when PG with LO: head in toilet every night puking my brains out. Just enjoy your pregnancy!

  • When I miscarried, I had plenty of m/s!

Also, the statistics are very misleading.  Most pregnancies that end in miscarriage, end before morning sickness would begin.  That really skews the data, imo.

  • Awe, that sucks bad info, This is baby #2 with still no M/S. Sometimes its the genes. My mother nor my sister have had it so, It never bothered me. There so much other stuff like FREAKING BAD AZZ CONSTIPATION! lol

  • Just adding to the chorus of "I don't have any m/s either!"  I think we're lucky!

I'm 11 weeks and I've just been really hungry, and I do get a tiny bit sick feeling when I haven't eaten in a while, but other than that, I'm relatively symptom-free.  My heart rate gets waaay up much more quickly than before, though. (I'm a runner, so that's how I noticed.)

I worry right along with you, but just remember that you've seen the heart beat - 95% is pretty good odds!  Good luck!

Just an fyi-- just because you haven't had MS yet doesn't mean you won't get it. I didn't have it til 13 weeks. Then I had it every day for a month
