I am always worried that she will stop breathing or will be silently choking back there or something. If I didn't have the mirror, I'd be trying to turn around to see her an that would be way more dangerous than the possibility of it becoming a projectile. I couldn't drive without that mirror.

Yes. I tend to think all the glass windows surrounding her present more of a danger.
Though I try to not drive with heavy objects not restrained in the car. While I was in nursing school, I had a patient who lost her eye during a wreck from getting hit in the face by her laptop.

Omg this is me...I am so paranoid something will happen while she's rear facing and I can't see her I am always checking that mirror. DH doesn't have one and I can't handle driving with her in his car.
I have one but don't use it. I freaked me out driving and it did the same thing to DH. The lady at the hospital that inspected our carseat said not to use it and we just took it down before DS was ever in the car with it.
To those who have a mirror - which one do you have?
I have this one:
It's plush around the outside, hooks on with hooks and velcro, and the mirror is a safety mirror so I'm really not worried about it. The chances that it would come off are really slim.
We have one but it's not up. We put up the sunshade thing on the back window of DH's truck and it fell down while we were driving. I am glad I was back there with her or else it would have landed on her. Could have been user error in installation but nothing has gone up since.

I have this same one and I agree with kissyfitt's assessment.
We don't have one. I haven't needed it. They tend to fall right asleep in the car, and even thou we've made many hour long trips to my mom and dad's, they sleep the whole time. I've heard of other twin moms who get them so they know who is crying, but I can tell who it is just from the sound.

I have one. My mirror wraps around the headrest and clips and velcros into place. The strap is between two posts that hold the headrest to the rest of the chair. I feel confident that it isn't going anywhere.
I am actually very scared of having things in my vehicle that could become a projectile during an accident. There is never anything left out while driving. My wallet and cell phone get put into the diaper bag and it gets stuffed under a seat. and we don't allow our older children to bring any toys other than 1 stuffed toy each. I also refuse to let anyone drive them if there car is a mess and I have actually told people that my kids can go in their car after they clean it. I'm nice about it and if they give me a hard time about it I will show them articles I have read where a child has been hurt by garbage and other things left in cars. Luckily no one has given us a hard time about it so far.

Yep, and I love it! I have one that is also a soft mirror surrounded by cushioning (not that it would really make a difference at 50 mph speeds, but whatever). I also have one with a light on it, kinda neat at night!

Thanks, all, for the input. I just ordered this one on Amazon.
I have one but haven't put it up yet. It will probably be more for her amusement than anything, since I don't think I'll be able to see her in it due to where her carseat is in the backseat. Maybe two mirrors would do the trick, lol.
Re: Do you have a car mirror?
Haha, I cracked up at this. Our cars are always trashed, that stupid mirror would probably shield him from some other projectile.
I heart you Dixee. LOL.
This. I held off on getting one and then figured, what's the point? There are so many other projectiles in the car. I like having it.
