Toddlers: 24 Months+

Anyone use Halo Sleepsack for toddler?

Blankets never stay on and I am wondering if we should try a sleepsack (the ones with the feet). Do any of your toddlers wear these and like them?

DD has one that she will wear sometimes.  It definitely helps her sleep better.  She has been in the habit of crying for me in the middle of the night because she's kicked off her covers and is cold.  So annoying, as she knows how to put the blanket back on herself...but I digress.  She is not crazy about the sleep sack but I try to get her to put it on when I can.

  • DD has been in one since she was born and she is 25 months now. During the summer she doesn't really use one becuase it is too darn hot in her room. The rest of the year definitely and she likes it. She keeps her blanket on for nap because she doesn't move around too much during that hour but at night she wouldn't keep it on. I don't have the one with feet because that sort of  defeats the purpose of trying to stay warm (plus she can waddle around in her sleepsack anyway). They go by weight instead of length which is sort of odd. I think DDs current sleep sack is a large and she won't fit in it by the end of the summer (she's about 34"). Her winter sleepsack I have been getting from Europe (where I'm from) because they are nice and very thick (dDs room gets into the high 50s/lower 60s when it is cold here) . Her next summer sleepsack is also from there because they measure in length. It goes up to 43" so that should cover her until she is out of the crib at the end of next summer.

  • We used one from about 15 mos-27 mos and loved it.  I actually have some mommy guilt thinking DD was cold at night and explained why she curled up a lot and woke up multiple times.  Poor thing was cold but I didn't know what else to do since I didn't want to put a blanket in the crib and she hated the non-footed sacks.  The first night she wore it she slept flat on her back with legs and arms spread eagle.  We only stopped using it because she started playing with the zipper and eventually taking it off.

  • We use one for DS (18.5 months) and will likely stop using them in a few months, for sure before moving him to a twin bed. DD used them until she was under 2 as well. If they are cold, they'll put the blankets back on. For over 2 years? Not worth a sleep sack, IMO.

  • DS wears the Halo Big Kid sleepsack and seems to like it.  His is 2T-3T but they also have the Early Walker ones if that would be too big for your LO.  He moves around a lot and won't keep blankets on.  His room is downstairs so it gets pretty cold and he needs the sleepsack to stay warm.  DS will sometimes take his diaper off too, so I've been putting the sleepsack on backwards to make it harder for him.  It doesn't limit his movement at all either.  He can still run around and climb in his room without falling, even if his feet aren't in the holes.

  • We used the one with the foot holes (from One Step Ahead) all winter because DS would wake up a million times cold after losing his blanket. Best thing ever...no more wake ups!

  • DS has been using them since this winter (before he was 2).  He loves them and I do to cuz he's nice and toasty and looks so darn cute running around with it on :-)

  • DS has worn one since he was about 4 months old and just recently at 26 months stopped.  He learned how to unzip it and would take it off when we put him to bed.

  • We used one up until a couple months ago when it got really warm. We did have one of the lighter Halo Big Kid ones (they're made of mesh shorts material) but he was still warm in it.

We'll probably go back to using a heavier one in the fall/winter. I like GroBags...but check Amazon. There are a few companies that make larger ones for toddlers.

  • DD has worn them since she was born.  Since it's hot now, she likes her A+A sleepsack.  She expects to put it on before her nap and bedtime.  I'll keep her in it until she either outgrows it or doesn't want it anymore.  I've tried blankets but she doesn't understand to cover up when she's cold yet.  I wouldn't buy one and start at this age now though if she wasn't already used to it.
