My 5 week old isn't being a good napper at all, he will fall asleep in my arms an the minute I put him down he's awake again. I feel like I'm constantly putting him in his swing bc it's the only other thing that works, has anyone else had this issue? Any advice would be wonderful!
Re: Not napping well..
We had this issue during weeks 5,6,7 an thankfully week 8 we have turned the sleeping corner. She is sleeping better at night and taking at least 2 good naps of 1 hr or longer. We still get some cat naps here and there where she doesn't make it out if my arms. My doc suggested slowly starting to lay her down before she is out all the way and I honestly think that was key for us. I have started doing it at night and plan to slowly work on doing for naps. He did say that dd is still too young to self sooth and that should change around 4 mths. So I don't plan to let her CIO or anything like that.
My 5 week old is sleeping on me right now. I'm thankful that I don't have problems at night.
Most of his sleeping is on me, in the moby or the bouncy. Or on my bed next to me while I nap. Or in the car while we are out. He takes very few naps in his crib. My first was like this and it did get better--although his crib maps were usually 45 minutes max!
I completely understand. Gavin is 8w and he is a horrible napper. Thankfully he is usually content to lie on the floor, in his crib; the only time he uses it, or in his swing during the times btwn nursing. That is not always the case though. I asked my doc about it at his last appt and he said that each time you put him down and he starts crying just let him cry a few mins and each time, let the span get a little longer. I have a hard time with that. It breaks my heart to hear him really cry. We are working on it, though. I wish you the best of luck!
