It's funny how you think you can't live without some of the stuff when you're registering, and when the baby arrives, it's a totally different story.
What did you buy/receive that you don't like, don't use, or it isn't as great as you thought it would be?
-I have the Chicco Keyfit carseat, mostly because my husband was convinced it was the best and he had to have it. I'm starting to hate it - it's 10 lbs by itself, so with my 13 lb kiddo in it, it's already getting difficult for me to carry and she's not even two months old! I wish we would have gone with one of the lighter Graco ones.
-I have yet to use any baby clothing with legs or pants- she pretty much only wears onesies, and if we're somewhere with the AC blasting, she gets socks and a blanket. She hates diaper changes and clothing changes and often screams during them, so I've found it best to limit messing with her clothing as much as possible. For the same reason she's also never worn her 'sleep gowns', because I'd have to change her out of them in the morning.
-I've barely touched the Boppy. I have problems with oversupply/overactive letdown and we pretty much only nurse lying down or with her propped into an upright position, or she chokes.
What about everyone else?
Re: What baby products do you not like/not use?
I haven't been using the newborn sleep sacks because he is swaddled.
I am very glad to have received the crib sheet savers. This has saved me from washing sheets so much from spit up.
I wish I would have registered for something else other than the Boppy. After the fact I realized that the Boppy isn't so great for breastfeeding. It's ok, but now I wish I registered for something else.
We used our PnP for about a week and then transitioned her to her crib because she didn't sleep well in it and felt we should try her in something else. Since then she hasn't used it at all but I feel we may when we go visit family or on vacation.
My let down is too strong for me to use my breastfeeding pillow since I have to lay back so far but I use it to prop her up like a chair when she gets fussy from laying down and wants to look around.
Also because of my strong let down I haven't used a single burp rag yet. I just find they are too small in case I need to express a bit into it before she feeds so by the time I am done feeding her it is too soaked for me to use to burp her so I prefer receiving blankets.
We have about 5 different paci brands from my shower and she hates them all; not that I mind if she ever takes a paci but my nipples would appreciate the break
ETA: Also she never used newborn clothes being born at 10lbs and she's a hot baby who sweats a lot in this heat so she lives in a diaper...so clothes are also pretty much useless so far this time around lol.
We use the swing and the bouncer in rotation iwth one another and they seem to work. Our little hates pants, blankets, and swaddlers, pretty much anything that covers him lol...
Unlike everyone else I cannot live without our Boppy (however we are FF not BF so that may make the difference). Our little guy was just 1 month on Friday and he weights close to 13lbs so feeding him and trying to support him without the pillow really gets my arm a little so the Boppy has been mine, and DH, saving grace although DH is using it more as a pillow for himself at times LOL....
Also our travle system (Graco) has been amazing I love the car seat very easy to use and the stroller is so easy to manuver I really like that as well.
4/25/12 ~ Our angel, Persephone James, is here!
We have loved our bassinet, crib, changing table, swing, Graco travel system, Sleep Sheep, night light, rocker/glider, miracle Blanket.
We don't use our bouncer-DD has screamed every time I put her in it! We also don't yet use our PnP or Bumbo, but I feel like we will in the future. We've used our Fisher Price bath tub a few times, but DD screamed with that too-she likes taking a bath in the kitchen sink much better
I received a Diaper Champ that I've never used once--we live in a single-level home and it's just easier to put diapers in the kitchen trash, which we take out just about every other day.
Then came a miscarriage March '11
Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12
Waiting on our second little peanut!
We love our Sleep sheep, swaddlers, bouncer, snap and go stroller, and expedition jogger stroller. DS is ok with the swing, but doesn't use it much. We never use our PNP or bassinet (he sleeps in the bouncer). DH picked the carseat, but it is REALLY heavy with DS in it and drives me crazy (plus I have to haul around oxygen and an apnea monitor so it all adds up to about 50 lbs in baby stuff). DS pretty much lives in onesies because it is so hot here. My mother was insistent that we buy about 8 or 9 pants outfits and he wore them for about 3 days while it was below 70 degrees and then it shot up over 85. I could give or take the Boppy, it didn't help for breastfeeding.
