Hi Mommas,
Sorry to those who are August mommas, as this is cross posted there.
I've been diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension (no pre-e/protein) and readings about 140's/90's. I spent last weekend in the antepartum unit in the hospital after I thought I had abnormal amounts of swelling. I didn't know my BP was up, but I just did not feel quite right.
I saw 4 total of the different OB's having been in the hospital, and had a follow up on Tuesday and saw another. I had a BPP and baby had a perfect score. I am at home on bedrest until baby is born. I was not given any medicine or any other changes except no more work and no getting up except restroom/shower/make a sandwich (but no cooking).
Assuming no protein develops and BP stays about the same, the doctors' plans were induction anywhere between 37-39 weeks. 2 of the 4 said 38 weeks, 1 said 39 weeks if possible, and one said 37 or 38 weeks. I haven't been able to see MY personal OB as she is on vacation this week. I won't see her next week either I don't think, because they couldn't get me an appointment for the BPP when she was also available.
I am wondering if others have had experiences with PIH and what their doctor's plan was/is. I'm guessing my real OB would ultimately make the decision, or whoever is on call if my situation changed.
Re: gestational hypertension/PIH
I had PIH with my first two babies that turned in to pre-e. I was not given any medication and/or even placed on bedrest. Once it tunred into pre-e, I was induced. Thankfully I made it to 38w0d with DS and 39w0d with DD.
If I were you and your condition stays "only" as PIH, I'd wait as long as possible before I was induced. If you can make it to 38 to 39w you have a better chance of having a successful induction. This is, of course, unless it turns in to pre-e!
Because I've had pre-e with my other two, I started having weekly BPP appts every Friday starting at 27 weeks. I also have growth u/s every 3-4 weeks (started this at 18 weeks) to monitor the baby's size (DS was 9.5lbs 2 weeks early and DD was 9.3lbs 1 week early.) This is quite odd considering that both PIH and pre-e tend to cause LOW birth weight. Sigh. Someone needs to tell this to my monster babies

Thanks! I feel completely normal as long as I actually follow the rules and do bedrest the right way. If I get up a little bit too long, I don't feel as good. I don't intentionally break the rules, but sometimes I get a faster shower, etc. and I can tell a difference and it reminds me to behave.
Hoping they are being ultra conservative and that he will stay in there till he is good and ready. He was measing 5 lbs 5 oz on Tuesday, which is 56%.
