lol...one of my favorite lines from Anchorman...but anyways...
I have issues with pants, and bloat. I knwo this has been discussed, but i forget what the concensus is.
When do you buy maternity pants? I have 2 pairs of stretchy black pants for work that i am totally sick of, and hardly anything for weekends. Jeans are all too tight to button, shorts as well 9except one pair). I have a few dresses, but i need casual clothes that fit!!!
When do you buy maternity clothes, vs. just buying a bigger size of pants??
Re: would you like to have a pants party?
I got a bella bump this weekend too... I'm going to give that a go
how do you feel about leggings and tunic tops? that could hold you over and still look cute.
I just don't think maternity clothes would fit me right now, plus I don't want to buy the wrong size then have to buy new ones down the road again
Love Anchor Man lmao
Well I'm having this same issue. I've been wearing a lot of sun dresses and very loose tops and long tanks under so if I need to unbutton my pants I can lol. I hate to buy anything just yet
Exactly!! I have never done this before, so I have no idea what size to get, or when to get it...ugh. I just want clothes that fit!! lol.
Maybe i will look into the Bella band thing, and pull out all of my dresses that will still fit (a lot are quite fitted).
I dont know (FTM here) but have you tried the bella band yet? It can help during the bloat stage and supposedly the bloat eventually goes away and then turns into a bump. I think you can get bella bands at Target.
Duh, yes, bella BANDS. I'm slow today. I got mine the cheapest I could find was Ingrid and Isabel online. Target only has Tummy Sleeves which are really similar but 1 size fits all and less colors for about the same price, so I opted for the Bella Band.
Nicole, are you saying that there's a party in your pants, and I'm invited?
I gave up on pants. I have been wearing casual cotton dresses. Occasionally, I wear yoga pants when it's not as hot as the surface of the sun outside.
ETA: Also these suggestions are for outside the house. I just don't wear things when I'm home. It makes it much easier for me to get DH to give in to my food craving demands. I highly suggest going this route.
My super all about me birth story:
Then: Fraternal twins born at 26 weeks in 1983. Me: 640 grams. Brother: 840 grams. Family kept watch in the NICU for 5 months before being allowed to go home. On oxygen for a year and a half after being released.
Now: Me: PhD student and married. Brother: Lawyer and married.
Dad's wedding speech: Thank you to all the family who stood watch and prayed for our children's survival. Well now the little scrawny chicken is married. Who would've thought? (Thanks dad for making me laugh and cry at the same time).
My BFP Chart
If bella band doesn't work - I'd look into maternity pants that are versatile for most of the pregnancy (i.e - bands that can roll down to look like a tank bottom during 1st/2nd tri but pulled up when your belly needs the support).
I bought a pair of maternity capris for the summer and my next jeans/pants purchase will probably be the Secret Fit from Motherhood Maternity.
LOL love it! And totally agree! I wish I had more dresses now...

I don't like the Bella Band. I don't find it comfortable to have your pants unbuttoned. Plus, it never stays in place.
Last time I bought two pairs of shorts in one size larger than I normally wear, and those worked out pretty well. I also bought several tops that were longer/looser than I normally wear. I knew they wouldn't take me through the whole pregnancy, but they took me through the bloated phase. Plus, I was able to wear them postpartum for a few months until I lost the baby weight.
This time around I'm at home all day, so I pretty much live in yoga pants and t-shirts. I put jeans on when I need to leave the house, but I change back into yoga pants as soon as I'm done.
I wear low rise jeans/pants most of the time, so I didn't make the switch until I was about 18 weeks with my previous pregnancies. Of course, by the 17th week, I was starting to worry that I wouldn't be able to get my pants over my hips after using the restroom, but I made it through.
As for shirts, I wore a combination of over-sized and maternity from 18 weeks on.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose pants don't fit anymore. Today I'm wearing a BeBand from Target because I couldn't get my pants buttoned this morning even before the bloat got bad.
Sadly I don't have many loose dresses, and none of them are really work appropriate. I'm reluctant to switch to maternity clothes this early though. Not sure how I'm going to get through the next few weeks!

I also meant to add that I bought two pairs of *very* low rise boot cut pants on clearance at Target and figure they'll get me through for a while since the bloat/bump will stay above the low waistband. The problem of course is bending over, thus I'll always need long tops with them . . .
Great Anchorman quote!
I just wore sweats last time. The maternity pants I did have fit weird and were hot. :-/ My job is pretty casual though so I think I'll get away with it.
I also have a back brace that goes all the way around so I wore that with unbuttoned jeans sometimes. Don't tell.
