April 2012 Moms

thinking of getting a radical haircut: UPDATED

So, the girls LOVE to grab fistfuls of my hair in their grubby little hands. It's like they're constantly yanking it, and it hurts! I'd just pull it back, but I hate ponytails because they always give me a headache. I think it's time for a chop. At least shoulder-length, though I've always secretly wanted a pixie but been too scared to try it. I think I'll go in for a cut today since hubby doesn't go in to work til 3. Wonder how short I'll go!

Here's how it looks now:

Update: I took the plunge. Here's the after:

I feel very Great Gatsby. SO much cooler on my neck, and no more babies grabbing/spitting up in/drooling on my hair.

  • I hate ponytails too, but because I have big ears Embarrassed and I like to hide them.

Post us a pic por favor!

I've always wanted a short, choppy haircut, but I don't have the face for it. The shortest I've gone is chin length.

  • I absolutely love pixie haircuts, so I say go for it!
  • This always scares me but shoulder length isn't bad. I had long almost to my nipples hair and cut it above my chin. HUGE regret and it took about 3 years to get it grown back to where it was before I cut it. Maybe you could try different ways to pull your hair up too because they will still pull shoulder length. Try clips, bobby pins, other types of hair bands? Or braids instead of ponytails??

  • Do it! I just chopped off my hair last week, and now I'm walking around with an Afro. No risk of Alex getting his hands on it. :-)

  • I want to get a drastic haircut too, but I have to wait for some of my hair to grow back. I think my PP hair loss has given me a couple areas that are obviously thinner. Sad

  • I really like the second, and I think it would look cute on you! That's exactly the type of haircut I wish I could pull off.
  • I would do the shoulder cut. If you like it, you can always cut more off and go shorter. But if you go shorter and dislike it, you can't put the hair back on.

  • OOOOO Go for the pixie! I chopped mine off 5 weeks ago! .. not pixie but chin length :) Best decision ever especially with this heat!! I used tokeep it this short prior to getting pregnant and decided to let it grow out until DS was born.. then I jut got sick of it!

  • Pixie for sure!!! I'm thinking of doing the same.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • I agree with pp that you could pull off a cute picie cut.  I'd vote the 2nd pic even thought I could understand why it would be easier if you if you went for the first pic.

  • Go for the pixie! I think it will look great on you.

  • I think you definitely have the type of facial structure that could pull off that pixie!! I have always wished I could do that, but am too scared! And I have ears that stick out, too!

I'm also going to get my hair cut today, but more than likely will end up with my typical swing bob that I've been sporting for several years now...

  • Yay for change! I cut mine shoulder length a month ago, it definitly helped with the yanking!

while these are both cute (and I lurv the second) how will you keep LO from tugging on the first one?  And it will still have to be put up if you want LO's to avoid getting it or having it in their face during burping etc.. Go for the second!

  • I think you can definately pull the second one off without a problem.

Tamcat, I got news for you: I think you would look really adorable in a pixie type cut too. I just got bangs, it seems like theyre in style now with all the celebs doing it. My hair was all one length, it felt kinda hippy-ish. Now I just feel like a goober.

  • I more I look at the second one, the more I want to get it myself.
  • Pixie, but don't let them thin it until the babies are 6 months. Last time I got my hair cut around 4 months, and it ended up way too thin after all the pp hair loss. But, bonus of the pixie is that the new growth will blend i well!

Get the pixie cut it will look so good on you! (also bc I always wanted a short cut but I'm too afraid so I tell other girls to do it and live through them lol)

  • Love the shorter one! I would do something similiar if my hair wasn't wavy/curly and coarse.
