End of 1st Tri?

in 1st Trimester

When exactly is the end of the 1st trimester and beginning of the 2nd?  I assumed 12 weeks was the end/beginning since that is 3 months and when people usually start sharing their news.  However, in books I have read, some say 13 weeks and some say 14 weeks.  This may be a dumb question, but I am confused!

    My 1st pregnancy I considered 12 weeks to be the end of my 1st trimester - I probably wont transition to 2nd tri board until 13 weeks though since that seems to be the 'norm' around here.

    I go with 13 weeks, but in the end does a week or two really make a huge difference?

    I always heard 12 weeks so I'll probably stay around here until the end of my 12th week.
