How are you making the room feel special for LO? We are re-using the bedding, curtains, etc., as well as the furniture, obviously. I did order a new bookshelf for DD. But are there ways you have fond to make it look a little different or special for the second baby so not everything is a hand-me-down? Or, should I just not even worry about this since she's not going to know the difference?
Re: STMs who are re-using furniture, bedding, decor
We moved, so the wall decorations are slightly different (had a mural at the old house), but that's solely because we moved.
My theory is that we will make this room "hers" when she is old enough to show off her personality and care a little more. We re-did the big girl room for DD1 since it now fits her personality (or our interpretation of her personality since she's still too little to have a big opinion).
you could do something like incorporate a new theme- for example use same colors or bedding but pick a different main feature. ie: if before you did blue bedding and sea do blue bedding and airplanes.
Or if you havent spent tons on bedding sell bedding and buy new bedding to change theme.
Everything neutral is being reused, crib, chair & ottoman, dresser (DD is getting DH's which his father made for him) and changing table.
But we are moving so the room will be special for DS, different colors, theme, some baseball decals, and in the next 2 years or so DH is going to make DS his own bed & dresser just like his father did for him.
Wrangling babies since 2010
If kid #2 has never seen it, then it's new to her, right? I wouldn't worry about it.
I have new bedding for baby #2 because I had pink girly bedding for DD and #2 is a boy, but other than that not much is changing in the nursery. The walls are painted yellow and all the furniture is staying the same. I will take down DD's name letters that are currently on the wall.
