Blended Families

Random daycare question

What do you do for daycare for your SKs in the summer? We are choosing an infant daycare center for LO when he arrives but SS is almost 8. Honestly we have been relying on family and now BM as she doesn't work any more to take him on our time. We both work unpredictable hours, weekends, evenings etc.

During the school year it's less of a big deal but the summer schedule so far has been killing us. Do you put your infant and much older child with two different daycare providers or how do you figure it out?

Thanks ladies

Re: Random daycare question

  • yeah I was going to suggest some sort of camp.  boys and girls club/ ymca/ sports camp (or computer camp if that's what your SS is into)

your town should have some rec stuff going on, swimming etc etc.

so yes, I would do two different "daycares" for SS and LO, LO needs to be in daycare, an 8 year old should be in summer camp

For my DD (she is 10), my SIL was babysitting for me for the last 3 years, but June was her last month (her choice).  So I had to sign her up at CDC (it is like a YMCA).  It is on the campus of her old shcool.  She is going 3 days a week, the other two days she stays with my H on Monday (his day off) and then one day with her Dad's girlfriend.  It's not cheap, for 3 days it costs $145 per week, but I need to work and she is still way to young to stay home alone.
