Yes, she's totally spoiled... *eyeroll*

C has been fighting sleep HARD for the past few days and earlier today I pick her up after she starts fussing and bam! she's asleep on my shoulder. I made a post on fb about "why can't it be this easy at night? Haha" and MIL goes "spoiled????????" with literally that many question marks. I said "nah.. You can't spoil a 2 1/2 month old, we're just dealing with a growth spurt is all"

Then it's "oh so is that what they're calling it now?" ummm why, yes, that's exactly what we call it when a baby is growing and it affects their daily routine...  But you go right on ahead and think I'm spoiling her. That's fine by me.

My grandmother says it to me all the time.  I try explaining to her that LO can't be spoiled at this age but there's no point.  She looks at me like yeah yeah you and your new fangled ideas.

  • I just heard that crap again yesterday, after I finally took DD to visit my co-workers. The same, let her CIO and I'm spoiling her, growth spurts are a myth, blah blah blah. And this was ALL unsolicited advice, as not once did I complain. All I did was comfort her when she cried and fed her when she was hungry. I hear it all the time from my MIL, whenever I try and "defend" myself, she looks at me like I have two heads. She wonders why I never call her or visit.

  • I got that from a nurse in the CVICU because DH, my mom or I had been holding Lily pretty much nonstop one day after she was finally off her vent, closed up and most tubes removed. I hadn't been able to hold my not-even-one-month-old in a week and she's getting spoiled because I can't bring myself to put her down. I would have asked for a different nurse if we had had her again, the beetch. You cannot spoil a newborn -- especially a sick one!

  • My sister, who is a mother of 2 bratty kids, tried that on me yesterday. I said LO seemed to be having a fussy day and wanted to be held a lot. She told me we spoiled him. Apparently comforting a sad baby is spoiling him. And we were at my parents all day, so of course his schedule was non exsistent.

  • I heard this all last weekend from my mom and grandma. Also, it's past time for her to get a bottle (we EBF), she needs some juice, cereal, and baby food. I tried to tell them you can't spoil newborns and got the side eye. Whatever...
