The 2 things I couldn't live without were a bouncy/vibrating chair and a jolly jumper type apparatus. Both made having a quick shower possible. The exersaucer came in handy once he was big enough.
The bassinet was used for storage. And I found those booster seats with a try for the kitchen chairs to be much less cumbersome than an actual highchair.
Wipe warmers are a waste of money and I never used a change table, I just had a large pad on our bed or floor or wherever I happened to be.
If you do a little searching you will find some lists the best ones are the ones that list essentials vs wants. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT WARMS! Its a waste of money.
Oh, and try finding what you can on Craigslist or something. They grow out of this stuff so fast it's a shame to waste so much money when you can find something in great condition for half the price. Not to mention, better on the environment
Buy the book Baby Bargains, it will help you narrow things down, and give you hints and tips for the things you need vs. the things that are a waste.

Our little man is getting bigger every day! My BFP Chart
I've been talking to my friends who are Mom's and asking them what they couldn't have lived without. I'm also spending hours going over my and my hubby's personalities seeing if we would even use somethings.
For example, I don't think we need a designated changing table and so we are getting a dresser and putting a changing pad on it...we are still debating wipe warmers, a variety of baby monitors, rocker vs glider...we are being very careful to not rush into any purchases, of any size. Probably a little OCD, but that works for us :-)
I was grateful for our diaper genie - but you don't NEED one. It does keep the stink in miraculously though - but the replacement bags are $$.
Thermometer via ear. Expensive, but they are quick and effective. And you don't have to stick it in the baby's butt. I LOVED that thing.
Breast pump - I ended up pumping exclusively for 6months. It was a lifesaver.
Crib/stroller - obviously very useful.
Things I got but really never used (but it's a preference)
1) breast pillow (for feeding - waste of money)
2) Wipe warmer
3) fancy diaper bag (just didn't work. ended up with a back back most of the time, or a cheaper diaper bag because it held more)
4) sling/wrap baby carrier. I couldn't figure that thing out for the life of me, although others loved it. I also felt it made me look fat (I know that sounds dumb).
5) baby bathtub. It was a nightmare to try and use alone. If I filled it with water, it was awkward to lift out of the tub, and I'm short, so if I left it in the tub, it was difficult and awkward to reach the baby! I ended up in the tub with DD, or a bath in the kitchen sink
6) High Chair - rarely used it, which surprised me.
1- Diaper Genie. If you have multiple, multiple flights of stairs to access your garbage then it's worth it. No stink but it's expensive. Costco sells the refills really cheap.
2- Ergo. My baby loved being carried. DH and I could wear it and he was happy all day long.
3- Pack N Play. He slept next to our bed in this for the first 6-9 months.
4- Somewhere you can put LO down on every level. swing, bouncy chair, jolly jumper, whatever. Just somewhere you can put baby safely while you shower, eat, dress, clean, etc.
Things I never used:
1- Wipe warmer. Why?
2- Receiving blankets. I stole 3 big ones from the hospital when I left and used them for swaddling. The other little ones that people give you are a waste IMO, I turned them into face cloths or burp cloths because I was given hundreds.
3- Really cute NB outfits. I maybe used a couple but in reality, DS was born in December and was in a fleece sleeper for the fist 1-2 months (I live in Canada = cold)

Hope this helps. Good luck!

LOVE that book. It's been super helpful so far.

Things I LOVED:
Angel Care Baby Monitor- It has a sensor that is able to sense baby's movement. If baby stops moving- like breathing- an alarm goes off.
Diaper Genie- I live in a multi level TH, so lots and lots of stairs.
Medela PISA- I EP,so this was a must. I also had the battery pack and the car charger, so I could pump anywhere, anytime
**THIS IS SPAM** cover- see above. Modesty is important to me.
Things I never used:
Bottle warmer- Honestly, running the bottle under warm water worked just fine
Video monitor- Angel Care was much more of a mind easer for me. Now that DD is two, I may reconsider that.
Swaddlers- DD HATED being swaddled or restrained, so we didn't do it. And she's fine. Started STTN at 8 weeks- no complaints here.
