I am a novice gardener (as well as novice parent haha) so I guess what I am saying is - under what circumstances would they be ok? I have tried to keep the garden "organic" but hubs was not always on board. Hoping to try zucchini as baby's 1st ever veggie puree tonight as my zukes are exploding this week! I know that in cases where baby is eating the skin, organic is better.
As far as products this year, I have used Miracle Gro recently (surprisingly doesn't say organic on it), a while back we did 1 treatment of an organicide which does claim to be organic, and DH used some powder fertilizer a few weeks ago against my will which also claims to be organic. Other than that, just water and sunlight
Furthermore, may I just add that it is embarassing that as a science teacher I do not know the answers to these questions. TIA!

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
The only thing I caution you about is homemade pureed carotts. I cant remember where but Im pretty sure that I read/heard something one time about homemade pureed carrots. It said that boiling your own carrots and smushing them changes something about the carrot which can be toxic.

So maybe just use caution with carrots? Or maybe look into that more. I could have just made that up, but I really think I read it somewhere. IDK.
GL and have fun!
PS. I am totally jelly of your garden. I moved to SA TX a few years ago and havent been able to garden since we got down here
agreed!

it's the nitrates that they absorb in the soil... same nitrates are found in jarred carrots as well, but they monitor the levels. with everything else I know about jarred food though I don't think that the risk is really all that high considering. and if you do decide to use fresh carrots, then after you steam them, get rid of the water you steamed them in and use new water when you puree
