October 2012 Moms

Not a good appointment today.....

So not a good doctor's appointment today, I told her about all the pressure I was having down there so when she was measuring my belly she was trying to feel where baby was. Then she told me that she didn't like what she was feeling so wanted to check me. I am dilated to 1, and baby is head down and in my pelvis. She told me no more exercising, I can not pick up anything heavier than my purse, and get as much rest as I can. She didn't put me on bed rest but told me if I dilate anymore she will put me on bed rest immediately. I now see the doctor every week so they can keep an eye on baby and make sure my blood pressure isn't elevated. Doctor believes that we will have a baby by Mid to late august that would put me between 33-36 weeks. Its so early its scary, I am so nervous about everything. We are moving next week and everything and now have had to hire movers to make sure I do not lift anything at all. I am so praying this baby stays in as long as possible.

  • Everything will be ok! Remember to try and relax as much as you can (I know it's easy for me to say). I was born @ 34 weeks 26 years ago and everything turned out fine and a girl I went to school with had her little girl at 26 weeks and she's doing fine as well!  I will be thinking and praying for you!

  • Thank you so much everyone, since I have been home I have been bad and "googled" everything under the sun. Google should be taken away from women who are pregnant I swear. Thanks again it means so much!!

  • Hopefully you can have your movers pack you up too. Or your friends can come and pack you, so you can leave the house and put your feet up. I'm guessing this means you will have to take it easy at work too. And that's not always a bad thing. do you know why the baby has moved into that position? Also, know that your baby is in everyone's thoughts and prayers. I'm certain everything will be ok.

  • I was born at 30 weeks (3lbs 8 oz). I only spent a couple of weeks in the hospital before my mom could take me home happy and healthy. That was 30 years ago. Nowadays babies are born as early as 24 weeks and survive (about 1lb). I guess what I am trying to say, while nobody wants to have a premie baby, the advances in medicine are amazing. Even if your LO decides to make an early debut, there is an extremely good chance that everything would be just fine.

I too have a high risk of delivery before 35 weeks.  Try to stay positive.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you!

  • I'm also being monitored rather closely for early dilation. So far so good, but I worry about these exact things. T&P that your LO stays in as long as possible! Take it easy
  • Wow, how scary!  I hope that baby stays put for much, much longer.  Try to take it easy, step away from Dr. Google, and have faith that everything will be okay.

  • So sorry to hear that you didn't have a good appointment. But the good news is your doctor is on top of everything, so even if the worst happens - your baby being born early - at least both you and they are prepared for that. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you *hugs*
