Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Exhausted... his night sleep keeps regressing

We were doing so well for awhile. He would go to be at around 6:30-7:00pm and sleep until 12- 1am to eat. Then he would sleep until around 6am. Then last week he started getting up at around 3am also to eat. Last night he was up every three hours or so from 6:30pm until 7am. I am so tired. I finally got him napping right now but lately he has only been taking cat naps during the day so I can't even nap.

  • As I am typing this he woke up. Wow, a 10 minute nap! Lucky me

  • It sounds like he's having a growth spurt. If it's any consolation, DS is 5 months and still refuses to do anything even remotely close to STTN. He was up 4 times last night.

  • It's a domino effect bad night sleep = bad napping. My dd is the same way, she used to only wake up 2 x's a night and now its 3-4 x's. She only cat naps too.

  • A few weeks back we had some 5 and even one 6 hour stretches right when he first went to bed. Now we get 4 hours at the most, if we are lucky!

Last night DS went to bed right at 8. He was up at 10:45 already. Then back down at 11:30 and up at 3:15 or so. Then back down around 4 up again at 7:30 (although I heard him making noise at around 6, but he thankfully fell back to sleep on his own!).

I go back to work tomorrow. Not looking forward to the no sleep and working!

Oh, and sometimes DS only takes catnaps during the day too and then he is miserable b/c he is tired! I am going to start trying to get him back to sleep when he wakes up from a nap- esp. if it has only been 30 or 40 mins.

Great! I was so hoping that the older he got, the closer to STTN he would get...or at least give me longer stretches of sleep! Crying

I hope that it is a growth spurt and he will go back to sleeping a bit more because I will be going back to work in a few weeks. But if it is a growth spurt it seems to be lasting a long time. This decline has been happening for atleast a week. Of course maybe the Thanksgiving traveling screwed him up a bit also.

  • I guess I am not alone.

He sleeps from 9 to 2, then is up every hour until 7. He screams because he is tired, but still refuses to sleep!!!

We then come downstairs and nap for 2-3 hours on the recliner.

Colin naps well, BUT he will only nap on me.  If I put him in his crib, swing, chair, pnp, etc., he is up in 20 min.
