Anyone getting in shape before ttc???

DH and I have just decided to ttc. Weight was never a real issue before DD was abt 3 (shes now 7) and then things changed rapidly. I am now worried abt the extra weight gain of a pregnancy so I have decided to change my eating habits and try my best to workout consistantly (now and when i b/c preggo) which has been a challenge b/c i suffer with fatigue, nausea, and lack of energy often (i suspect this attributed to the weight gain)... Any one going through any similar situations or have any suggestions???

  • I was... but I got KUd.  I had started at a new gym, met with a new trainer....  was all set!  It was actually my first session with trainer that gave me the first clue that I was KUd, when I got really dizzy during work out.

    Good Luck!

I am an avid soccer player (play 4x's a week).  When we were going to start TTC, I played soccer 4 x's a week, did yoga 2x's a week and cut back on everything I wouldn't be able to have during pregnancy (coffee/alcohol).  Additionally, I started taking pre-natal vitamins 2 months before we started TTC, too.

    Hope this helps!

You can have coffee while you're pregnant!

It doesn't mean you should.... I gave up caffeine, there's no need for it, even with the early exhaustion.

Ok, you're clearly smarter than I am.  I must have caused a lot of damage to the perfect little girl in my signature by having a coffee AND a soda every day during my pregnancy.  Sometimes I had sweetened, caffeinated tea, too. FYI, chocolate also contains caffeine.

I also gave up caffeine as well as artificial sweeteners.  I thought it was the best choice.  I agree that just because you can have some doesn't mean you should.  It clearly isn't the best thing to have because I have always heard that you should limit caffeine while pregnant.  Plus, even when not pregnant, if I overdo the coffee I feel weird and jittery, almost like my blood sugar is crashing.  So, probably not the best thing to put into your body.

  • I am! I started prenatal vitamins, and do cycling 4-5 times a week, pilates and yoga, each one day a week, also do some weight training with concentration on core muscles without doing sit ups. I specifically choose the workout routines that I can continue during pregnancy.
