Ah, me too. I found myself doing it the other day ;)

I swore I would always have my kid in the crib from day 1 (yeah, she was with me for 6+ months)

  • I never said I wouldn't do it, but I do use spit to clean my kids face.  If there is a bottle of water around, I'll use that.  But if not, spit it is.

  • That I would never put my kid to bed with a bottle.

However, it's the only way child falls asleep. All sprawled out, relaxing in her crib, holding her bottle.

In my defense though, I have never found it in her mouth empty/sucking on it all night. She either throws it out, or just hangs on to the nipple part with her hand and lays beside it. I always take it away when she's asleep.

  • That I would never be the mom who has her kid so spoiled she can hardly put him down without a meltdown.... yeah that didn't work out Embarrassed

  • Give my baby a snack to keep him quiet. It totally happens.

LOL. Those food pouches save my sanity in the car. 20 minutes of quiet occupied time!

She also eats breakfast while I do farm chores in the morning. 2 birds. 1 stone. Peace and Quiet. ;)

Same here! Those honey wheat pretzels keep her happy in the car/grocery store/at church. I don't know what I'll do if she gets sick of them.

  • I thought I would never give him something in the store (that I hadn't bought yet) to keep him quiet while I finished my shopping.  If he's getting unruly I'll give him something out of the cart to play with/chew on.  Usually it's a puffs container because when I buy those he knows exactly what they are and he wants to hold it instead of putting it in the cart.

I also thought I wouldn't let him eat off the table at a restaurant.  But there's no real good way around it...I have a little plastic table mat for him but that got old real quick and now he eats straight off the table.

Also thought I would always use the shopping cart/high chair cover, but it's easier without it.  I also think the carts straps hold DS in better than his cover's straps.

  • I said I'd NEVER let her into our bed.  For awhile, that is where she and I napped together after daycare.  I loved it.  :-)

I also said no juice.  But I definitely bought prune juice a few weeks ago.  She didn't drink it (no sippy cup skills) but I still tried.

A lot of the other things, I've kept my "promise" so to speak.

  • Bribe her with food. The only way I can change her diaper is by giving her a mum-mum.

Watch tv with her in the room. I'm getting better but I'm used to having it on as background noise. She ignores it mostly, but dances along to Glee, SYTYCD, and America's Got Talent.

  • always said I would never feed her from my spoon..

    This!

And, bed sharing.  He sleeps in his crib all night, but 5am hits and he's up raring to go.  The only way to get him back down for a hour is to lay in bed with me.  I don't care, its totally worth the extra hours sleep.

  • Use formula, own a minivan.

DD just got 6oz of formula, and we're test driving minivans this weekend. I'm excited about it.
