3rd Trimester

What are you going to swaddle your baby in? (STM esp)

We love A&A swaddling blankets and I would love to use these as newborn swaddlers. Would your recommend them as swaddle blankets? I just ask because we've just used them for the carseat or stroller not for actually swaddling. I'd prefer things rather than the Miracle Blanket or SwaddleMes but wanted to know your thoughts!

  • I'm going to use whatever works!

For DD, she liked the SwaddleMes so we never had to try anything else. In fact, I had a Miracle Blanket for her and never used it because she didn't break out of the SwaddleMes until she was ready to stop being swaddled.

For this baby, I have a couple of SwaddlePods, a couple of SwaddleMes, and a package of Aden & Anais swaddling blankets. I'll try one and and go from there.

I never used A&A, but I know a lot of people like them.  I used SwaddleDesigns blankets and they are great.  They are huge and worked well.  They are a little heavier then A&A which worked well in the air conditioning with DD and will work well with this baby come the fall/winter.

We have some random flannel ones that were a gift for DS and the velcro ones that make a baby burrito - they both worked great for DS and will be re-used. I also got a few A & A ones so that DS2 has SOME new swaddling blankets. We'll see what kind of job they do.
  • FTM here, but we are going to A&A because they were so highly recommended by my mama friends.  Especially since it's so hot and this is a summer baby - I love that they are leightweight.

  • DS broke out of blankets, so the SwaddleMe was a godsend. If they work for DD, we'll use them again. I might try A&A too bc they're nice and big and a breathable fabric.

  • I have several Halo and Summer swaddle wraps, but of all the just sheets, A&A are definitely the best I've used. They are huge and wonderful. I'll have one with me at the hospital just in case.

  • DD used to break out of blankets, so we will be using the Miracle Blanket and Halo Sleepsack w/Swaddle.

  • I bought some Bambino land swaddle blankets that I will be using along with some of the velcro cotton swaddlers that I have from when DS was born.  The muslin blankets are better for warmer weather swaddling though, so I feel more comfortable with that in our warm So Cal weather.

I like A&A and SwaddleDesigns blankets. DH can't swaddle worth crap so he has to use the velcro kind.  I also have a woombie that worked well.  I am going to try a Modswad this time too. Our daycare doesn't swaddle but they allow sleep sacks so I'm going to try to get them to use the Modswad.

  • We used SwaddleMe's with DS and they worked great.  He was a Houdini so he needed something tight and secure, and I worried about him and loose blankets.  It was the only way he STTN (we didn't use anything for naps...if I did that he would have been swaddled most of the day).

This time we're going to try the Woombie from the start so we don't have to deal with the de-swaddling process so much (I hope!).  It'll allow her to move her arms around a little bit, but keep her from startling herself and pulling her pacifier out.

Miracle Blankets are THE BEST. So easy to use and the only ones where my son doesn't worm out of in 3 seconds flat.

  • Nothing, he wont be swaddled

  • Maybe I was doing something wrong but the A&A blankets were always way too big for DD and she would break out of them. We loved the SwaddleMe's and the Halo sleep sacks.

This baby we are prepared with these again and will use whatever works.

  • miracle blankets - loved them with both kids, it was the only thing my little beefcake boy wouldn't bust out of.

  • I always loved the little waffle type stretchy blankets.  They didn't seem to loosen as much when LO squirmed in against them.  Both DS and DD were born in winter and fall though, so they may be horrible for swaddling in the heat.

  • Our favorites for swaddling with our first LO were the Aden and Anais blankets. They were the only thing that stayed put, were large enough, and were breathable enough for me to not worry about my child getting her face stuck in the top part of the blanket.

We also tried the swaddle me, carter's receiving blankets, halo sleep sacks, and several others, but the A+A ones were the only ones we liked.

  • I'm planning to use the Swaddleme's that we used with DS. Hopefully those will work well a second time around.

  • All of my kids have hated being swaddled. So I'm useless on this one. But just try one brand at a time. See what works and go from there.

This is brilliant! I kinda giggled during the video though. It's a baby straight jacket.

  • I cut up pillowcases last time and used those, once it got too hot for regular blankets.  This time I think A&A will fit in the budget, but honestly old pillowcases worked just fine.

  • We have a HALO sleepsack that we're going to try, and I also might try some receiving blankets and see what she likes best.

This.. I am getting the princess posie aden & anais boutique swaddle blankets.. they are $32 now (regular $49)

  • The Halo Sleepsacks with swaddle attachment worked best for my first little one. I love the A+A swaddles but they don't tightly swaddle the baby, certainly not for overnight. If you need something that's really escape-proof that your baby can use to STTN you've got to get a swaddle with the velcro and tabs like the Halo. The A+A are great for light swaddling during the day and as light blankets, etc.
