Pain under belly button but above incision?

The area below my belly button but above my incision is still very tender. I don't know if it's just still healing and my abdominal muscles are coming back together there or what but I can't stand to have anything press against that area-anyone else have this? I do have a lovely little pooch there so it's not completely flat, I wish! Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this-thanks!

Re: Pain under belly button but above incision?

  • yes I'm experiencing it however I am only 1 week and 5 days pp. So mine could just be my uterus still healing. With my 1st c-section I remember still have the tenderness in this area up until about 2 months pp. Not quite sure why though.

  • I too, had this pain. It lasted about 7/8 weeks. I always just contributed the pain to my abdominal muscles having been streched, pulled and cut. Remember you just had major abdominal surgery! But I would for sure give you ob a heads up about how you are feeling and continue to take it pretty easy. Smile Hope this helps!

  • I am almost 12 weeks pp and still have soreness in the area you are describing.  It's gradually getting better, but it's still not totally gone.  I can wear regular pants again (which is good since I went back to work this week, lol) but I can't lean up against anything or have any kind of moderate pressure in that area :(  This was my first c/s though, so I don't know how normal it is.

FWIW, I had A LOT of pain in that area for the first week, and my doctor said it was normal and from cutting and stretching the abs to deliver the baby.

  • I still get this from time to time. I am sorry its not very pleasent. I googled it once and read that its most like scar tissue. My doctor told me it was okay and that it would take time for me to feel normal again.
