  My DD has been doing this for about a week now, too!

  It may be on the earlier end but still quite common I think.....

  DD has been sitting for a couple of weeks, as well. DS did it around 5.5 months, too. She can't get into that position yet, but will sit if we place her there. The pedi. asked about it at her 5 month check up and it seemed to not be too early, but right on track.

  My guy is a little older since he's an early January baby but he is sitting up well by himself now.  Sometimes I'll put the boppy around him for a little support.  Today was the first day I put him in the shopping cart at the store with one of those shopping cart covers that is cushiony and strapped him in and he sat up well the whole time.

  It is a bit early but yes my lo is siting up unassisted for long stretches - she still topples over sometimes but she's pretty much sitting up on her own
