Ok. I have so much to say but will narrow it down. I have three kids 16g, 14b, & 12b. yeah i thought I was threw as well. However after being divorced for 5 years I met my current husband who has no children at 50- So I naturally figured he couldnot have them. Well low and behold after being married for 1 month the preg test was positive. I was happy not knowing what was in store for me. After the first docote visit i was told I am considered advanced maternal age, and needed genetic counseling- OK.
Well, it was great but all the risks made me feel inadequate like maybe i am too old to have anymore children. Yes I cried, cried and cried for days in my closet no doubt. My husband has no clue how all this is making me feel. I don't feel excited about the process anymore.
I still work 40 hours a week and cannot slack at work, so at home I am cutting back on my duties. After walking from the garage to my job and to the 10th floor in 100 degree weather I am tired. then the traffic drive home usually takes an hour so naturally at home I am bathing and resting.
I am coming to terms with the fact that pregnancy in your thirties is significantly different on your body than it was in my twenties I barely felt anything then again I was not working either I was a at home mom- go figure.
Re: 37 pregnant w/4th after 12 year stretch
Sounds like an adventure. How is your DH handling the news? Excited?
Well GL! and Congrats!

Don't let them rob you of your joy. Some doctors are exceptionally careful, some somewhat careful, some just let you know your risks, some give the doomsday sermon. There are risks with every pregnancy - don't let the worries overwhelm the wonderful thing that you are doing - adding another blessing to your family.
That being said - Congratulations! My oldest is 14, my youngest is not quite 2. #6 is coming in December, and I'll be 41 in 1 1/2 weeks. It definitely IS different than being pregnant at 26!
I hear you. I am 36 and have a 13 year old and an 11 year old. This pregnancy is far more difficult on my than it was in my early twenties. I am looking forward to having a baby to cuddle again, but I was worried about the genetic tests as well.
Fortunately the Dr's have only mentioned my AMA at the first appointment and have treated me quite normally throughout the whole process.
Oh yes mam, pregnancy in my 20s was waaaaaaaay more easier than in my 30s. My kids are 17, 14 and 11 and all of their pregnancies were a breeze compared to this one. You will make it though, I promise!
My only downfall with this pregnancy was I had to start maternity leave at 36 weeks because I couldn't handle working anymore. My boss actually suggested I start leave early. So i've been home for the last few weeks taking daily naps (which I love being able to do).
I just turned 40. I am pregnant with my third (my youngest is 5 1/2, oldest is 7 1/2). It will be a big change for us. I know what you mean because I was 34 when I delivered my son and now I am "high risk", have to have all these tests and I even have to deliver a week early because they don't want my baby in there with my old placenta lol. It's a lot to take in but try to be happy. People at our age have healthy babies every single day and tragedies still happen to moms in their 20's. You can't know what will happen, all you can do is enjoy the fact that TODAY you are pregnant with a baby and enjoy it!!

I'm pregnant with my second after an (almost) 12-year-gap between my daughter and this baby. As far as being "AMA," my doctor doesn't consider my age (38) to be any sort of obstacle and, quite frankly, neither do I. This pregnancy has been *much* easier on me than my first. At this point in my first pregnancy, I was already on bedrest so I try to be grateful that all I am experiencing is enormous amounts of fatigue.
Good luck to you!

I am 42 with a 21, 18 and 15 month old and one on the way. There are those risk for AMA but I always tell my self these risk are in all pregnancies ours just jumps a little more.
Our 15 month old was born with out any issues, just waiting for the latest blood work to come back to see how we are with this LO.
