Update to trouble w/ solids

We had DD's appointment today. We have to do a swallow study with a GI doctor and a speech therapist. She is concerned that the first feedings we were doing were going into her airway and she was gagging and vomiting to get it out. She thinks the reason she is gagging and vomiting immediatly now is because she had so many bad feedings that she is having a Pavlovian effect now.

If the swallow study comes back bad then we go to a speech therapist and work on positioning and feeding techniques. If it is normal we go to an ENT to have her scoped to see if she has occult reflux. Her reflux symptoms have resolved, but she can still have it and it be silent.

So from here out I am to no longer spoon feed her, I have to let her self feed if interested. So fingers crossed that we are just dealing with some occult reflux that we can treat with meds and not something worse. After all this we still have to deal with her milk/soy allergy too...sounds like allergy titers are in our future as well.

Goodness, that sounds like a lot, but at least you have some sort of answer. Fingers crossed this resolves itself soon enough!

Well it sounds like you've got a plan and that's always good! I hope your DD is taking this well.

I had sort of wondered when you first posted about this if it was something like she had a bad experience with food and now her automatic response is just to get it out.
