My 2 1/2 week old son has started leaking out the back and side of his diaper when he sleeps. He often sleeps with his legs curled up. Has anyone else had this issue?
My son was leaking a lot the first week then my pedi told me to make sure and point the penis down. That has helped tremendously. Never had to worry about that with my DD, lol
I also had to learn the penis down trick and make sure the ruffles of the diaper are out around the legs. I haven't had any leaks with Luvs or Target brand diapers.
We had the same issue, even with pointing his penis down. We finally figured out that we needed to make sure there was a tight pocket around him by pulling the front and back up all the way and fastening it snugly. It could also be the kind of diaper. We tried Huggies and DS leaked through them like crazy. Pampers Swaddlers are all we use now, and we've only had 2 leaks in the last 5 weeks.

HA HA DH and I were going crazy with the peeing out of the diaper trick. DH even said I miss having a newborn girl. If you are still using newborn diapers you may need to go up a size. I moved DD to size 1 at around 9 pounds but DS is 10 and still fits fine in them. Each child is shapped different so the weight limit is really just a guide
Re: Diaper leaks?
1. make sure it is tight around the waist. if it is loose then they will leak up their butt/low back.
2. my cloth diapers (prefolds and covers) never leak
I love em!
