worried abt little one,s feeding

my little one falls asleep during feeding..i have tried all methods to wake him up...but the dont workk...my baby will be up for 2 minn and he will go bac to sleep...also,what he feeds in these 2 min is just filled in his mouth and he usually vomits it out....i have also tried playing with himfor a while and getting him up but it also rarely works...in day,i canuse my left over energy to feed him evry 10min for an hour or so but innight ,it,s impossible...hence i end up pumping or using formula...but i would rather have him at breasts..rare times when he is up,he latches and feeds well..he is loosiing weight and hence i am very worried......can omeone please help me?

How old is your LO? I ask because DS and DD were jaundice the first week or so and the LC warned me that it causes them to be sleepy and they may not take enough in at the breast, which is bad with a jaundice baby because they need to go to the bathroom to improve the condition. The recommendation if it happened was to either supplement with formula or pumped milk an ounce after every feeding. One thing I did with DS was change his diaper in the middle of the feeding vs. before. This woke him up and he usually took the other side after. If you can?t figure out the cause of the baby?s sleepiness I would call an LC. My hospital had a line I could call with any questions.
