Maxi dresses

O.M.G. maternity maxi dresses are the best thing ever.  I have one and I could live in it.  I just ordered a 2nd one from Target.  If you have any that you like please share where you bought them!  TIA!

Re: Maxi dresses

  • I found 2 great ones at Gap Maternity (online) that I love~!

  • So far I have a handful from small local boutiques, so that isn't helpful, but I had to add that I LOOOOVE mine too!!

How tall are you guys? I'm 5'4", which seems pretty average, and when I tried some on at Old Navy they all dragged on the floor.

  • This has been my favorite thing to wear so far.  Most of mine are from target, some maternity, some not.  I was in Ross a few days ago and they had a ton, I only got one but there were a lot to choose from so you might try there.

They look awful on me. I look like all dress with a tiny head. :(

5'7".  I have heard that problem from a lot of my friends though.  :(

    It's all about the comfort!

  • I wish I could wear them.  I'm too short, they end up dragging on the ground and if I wore a skirt/dress my fat thighs rub together too much and it gets painful.

  • I have two from Target and I love them!

  • None of mine are maternity, but I've been into maxi dresses since last summer and I pretty much live in them now! I got mine from Urban Planet.

  • My favorite, that I actually wore to my baby shower last pregnancy, is from Nordstrom Rack.  It's not maternity, but works/fits great!

PP, re: thighs rubbing together - this stuff is MAGIC.  Great for all sorts of rubbing/chafing.  https://www.drugstore.com/monistat-soothing-care-chafing-relief-powder-gel/qxp139254  It's very similar to a makeup primer (I've seen it recommended on some websites as a Smashbox Photofinish primer replacement), cheap and works amazing.

I "stole" on from my mother that she bought at TJ Maxx..she thinks...I love it as its actually LONG! At just over 5'9" I have so much trouble finding them long enough. I'm going to be searching for them that I can pair with a little cardigan or something for work...if only my school district would let me wear yoga pants and t-shirts to teach in ;)

And my mother knows I took it, she laughed at me informing her I was stealing from her :-)

This. I'm 5'1" and can't find out that fits. I suppose I could always hem it, but that just seems like to much work.. ha.

  • I found one at Target and two more at Marshall's. I am 5'5", and can JUST wear my flat sandals with the dresses without them dragging.

I wear these all the time, but since I've gained some weight my thighs are rubbing together and the heat is making me sweaty and I think I could start a fire under there if I wear them too long!

    Very comfy belly-wise, though!

  • I just bought two maxis today!  They are so easy and comfortable right now.

  • If you can sew, or know anyone that can sew, a lot of fabric stores carries the material to make them already "shirred" at the top.  It's usually like 40 cents an inch (and almost all you can use a 40% coupon, and you measure your bust).  Then, you just do one seam down the center and a hem.  I made a TON with my last pregnancy.  They take 10 minutes, $10, and I've found so many pretty prints.

Genius!  I love wearing those around the house...  They make my boobs so itchy, though!  I used to make them all the time, esp. when the store has a sale and you can literally make a dress for less than $5

  • I got a great black one at Kohls last month!  I love it and wear it all the time.  I'm 5'3" so they're usually long on me but this one is the perfect length.  It's not maternity though, just very stretchy and will grow with me.

  • I JUST ordered this maternity striped tank maxi from old navy this week, and it's FAB. I'm 5'3" and it's not even too long! My problem has been with sizing, this is an xs and I think I'll be able to wear it most of the summer. I bought another maternity dress from the gap in size small and it's HUGE. Like, I don't think it will ever fit me, until maybe my 9 month when it will be too cold to wear it.
