Question about Thank You Cards

How long do I have to get out thank you cards?  My shower was on Sunday 7/1.  I've gotten about half of them done, but was thinking of waiting until next week to finish them up.

Should I send them all out together, or is it okay to send them in batches?

Thanks!

Re: Question about Thank You Cards

  • You're fine. I think within 3-4 weeks is good. But I seriously don't get some for a year or so after a wedding or shower.

  • I would send them all out at once - not for any etiquette reason but because there is bound to be some old bitty who didn't get hers in the first batch and loses her marbles about it.

If you have them all out within 2-3 weeks, you would be faster than most people.  I dont think there is a hard and fast rule since lots of people seem to wait until the baby arrives to send thank yous.

  • I think as long as you get them out within a month of your shower you should be fine.

  • I would send them all out together and honestly, if you are halfway done already, I would just plow through! I do think our moms' generation is particularly impressed if you can get them out in a week. Also, they are easier to write when you are fresh off the high of your shower. The longer you wait the more watered down they feel. Just my opinion! (But as a guest, no, I wouldn't be offended if it took another week.)
  • I think you are fine. But like some PPs said, send them all out together (for the little old lady who would pitch a fit). And great job on getting half done already!

  • Thanks ladies!  I really appreciate it!  It's so quiet at work that I brought them all with me and did them here. Big Smile

  • I sent mine out in batches b/c I needed more stamps. I honestly think you're fine to wait at least a month. I like to get them done right away tho!

  • Eh, I sent mine out in batches, as I wrote them a few at a time.

I have just two more to write...  I need to follow your lead...I'm way behind you given that my shower was two weeks before yours! :)

Totally Agree!!!   Just do it... You got this!  You're half way through, RAH, RAH!!!   You go Girl!    (that was my inner cheerleader coming out... LOL)

I did 40 of them on saturday night... they were for a work shower from Friday and they were on desks Monday!   IDK if it was "proper" but the ppl who went in on the same gift (like 7 ppl went in on the stroller) got the same wording!  LOL not like they compare 'thank you' cards---right??

  • Honestly, for the average shower (about 30 people) there's not really a reason you can't get them done and out within a week (for most people).  Even if you sit down and do 4 a night, in a week, you'll have 28 done.  Plus, there is nothing to say that the dad to be can't help.  Even at that, 2 a night per person would get almost 30 done in a week.

    I agree with this.
