So since birth we have always held our LO and put him to sleep that way. I know this is eventually going to bite us in the butt so Im wondering what is the best way to transition into another way of putting him to sleep and how long will it take? LO sleeps on his tummy so the idea of putting him in his crib and letting him watch the mobile or something doesnt work. What about laying him on the couch and patting his butt or something or even in his bed once he is drowsy? Any advice or thoughts would be great. Thanks

Re: Putting baby to sleep
I sway with DD until she is drowsy then put her in her crib but she has a mobile since she sleeps on her back. I would try the rubbing his back. Or, what always works great when I did daycare, put your hand on his butt and sort of shake/rock him with a gentle motion. Do that to help him fall asleep then start backing off and stopping when he is drowsy. But I would do it in his crib not on the sofa. Get him used to falling asleep in his bed.
Edit: Can't spell apparently
