Toddlers: 24 Months+

Sesame Place

We are taking DD to Sesame Place for the 1st time next week, anyone have any tips?

The website says you need swim diapers for the water park, DD's been potty trained for 2 weeks now, completely out of diapers, and doing very well, will she still need a diaper?

Is the pass to skip lines worth it on a Monday or with a 2 year old who has a limited attention span?

How long are the shows?

Flame if you want, but DD was 2 in March, if we try to pass her off as under 2, and I'm not sure we could, would she still be able to get on all the rides?

Re: Sesame Place

  • my DD has been potty trained since Feb. and I still put on the swim diaper when we went. the lines were not too bad when I went, if it was up to me I would save my $ because you will spend it on something else. i think the shows were under 30 mins. and YES you can say DD is under 2 they only ask at the gate to get in the park.

  • We just went last month. The first day we went and it was dead (On a tuesday) We got right on every ride. The second day we went it was a bit more crowded, and the 3rd day (Saturday) was pretty crowded and decent line waits for each rides.

We took my 2 year old on everything even the roller coaster. We took my then 10 month on most rides with the exception of the roller coaster and a few others.

I would still be LO in a swim diaper, water tends to make kids have to go to the bathroom.

Id say try saying she's under 2. I wish I had You'd still be able to get her on all the rides too.

We didn't do any of the shows because I knew the boys wouldn't sit for it. But the were interested in the parade .

The Character breakfast is definitely worth it.

We went last October on a weekend and it was horrible.  The lines were so long.  Sesame Place is not worth the money for me.  Compare it to Dutch Wonderland.  They  have more rides for toddlers and also have a water park.  Not to mention they are only $33 to get in...
  • We just went last month with our 4 and 2 year old and they LOVED it!  Our 2 year old had just turned 2 a couple weeks before we went and she was able to get in free, I don't see this being a problem with your own daughter, I don't blame you, the park is expensive!!!  We put her in her stroller when we walked through admission as to make her look "2 or under".

We bought the 2 day pass as it was the same price as the one day pass.  We have a Triple A membership and were able to get a small discount on out tickets.

Bring a small cooler with water and snacks in it as food and beverages at the park are ridiculously expensive and not that good.  You can leave the park and get your hand stamped to return later, there are many places outside the park where you can get a cheaper better lunch - there is a mall right around the corner with a food court if you feel like eating somewhere outside the park.

The one meal we did eat at the park was the character lunch (your DD could get in for free) which is pricey and cost us about an extra $75 for the four of us (our 2 year old was free).  I HIGHLY recomend booking this if you are able to swing the $$$.  The food was great and our girls were able to see all the main Sesame Street characters (Elmo, Big Bird, The Count, Abby, Cookie Monster, etc).  The characters walked around to each table and we were able to take pictures with all of them.  They sang and danced and it was an all around great experience. Our girls got to take home an Elmo straw cup.  It was definitely worth the money as we didn't see many characters walking around the park - and when we did see a character walking around the park, there was a long line to get a picture with them.

We saw two shows while we were there.  Elmo's World Live - which was about 20 minutes long and Elmo Rocks, which was about a half hour long.  They were both great and our girls loved them!  You have to line up pretty early to get a good seat though.  We lined up about 45 minutes early and were able to sit right in front.

If your daughter is potty trained then I would think you do not need a swim diaper for her for the water park.  There are more wet rides than dry rides at the park.  Since we had the 2 day pass, we decided to do one day all water rides and the second day all dry.  Our two year old was able to go on most of the rides with the exception of a few, the roller coaster being one of them.

I'm not sure if you'd need the skip the pass or not on a Monday in July.  We went the first weekend in June - Sunday and Monday.  It was still early in the season and school wasn't out yet so the park was not crowded at all at this point, so we did not purchase the pass.  I'm sure with it being July and school being out there will be more crowds, I've read in reviews on trip-advisor that the pass is worth purchasing though.

All in all, we had a great, great experience and we'll definietly return to the park next summer.

    Have fun!

  • I forgot to add that the parade is wonderful as well, my girls loved it.  We had to line up on the street about 20 minutes before hand to get a good spot to watch.  :)

It can't hurt to just have a few swim diapers with you. They really just don't want to see regular diapers in the water.

Get there at 10am when it opens, start with the dry rides & work your way to the water. I have never done the hopper pass, we are season pass holders & don't need them.

It can get very busy & the lines can get crazy. That is any day of the week this time of year.

    The shows run 15-20 minutes.

My son is 2.5 and still can't get on ALL the rides. But most.
