DD alwaysssss congested. help!!!

My DD is almost 3 months old and she has been congested most of her life...poor thing!  I use saline drops and the nasal aspirator (just ordered the comfynose aspirator)...just started humidifer in her room...I take her in the bathroom with me while I shower so she can inhale the warm air...I don't know what else to do.  I can't imagine this is a cold that has lasted this long?  Is it allergies?  Normal baby stuff?  Anyone else experiencing this???  I am at my witts end...I feel so bad for her constantly sneezing and sounding like a little piglet.  Breaks my heart.  Help!

  • Do you think she has any problems with dairy?  DS gets congested when I eat dairy (and has mucousy poops).

Like how much dairy?  I mean all I have had is a little ice cream in the past few days...I drink almond milk.  Hmm...

  • Noah has had this issue since he was born also. The pedi said that sometime it takes a few months for babies to get everything out that they inhaled when they were in utero. the only suggestions they gave us were the same things you were already doing....the doctor said it should go away on its own.

I would keep an eye on it though because now my son is having breathing troubles and the congestion is making it worse and he has to use a nebulizer, so I would just keep an eye on her and maybe mention it to her pedi at her next appointment.

  • Almond milk is not dairy but if she is sensitive to dairy then a few bowls of ice cream is definelty enough to cause symptoms, at least for my DD. have you noticed any other symptoms though? Congestion doesn't automaticallyean dairy sensitivity (obviously) but it is a common symptom.

  • Claire is like this. Pedi and pedi-husband both say some babies are just congested. Unfortunately, I don't have any recs beyond what you're already doing.

DD is congested too. I call her Gizmo because she sounds like a gremlin. Pedi said that it's just irritants and every time she's listened to her chest, she's fine. She'll grow out of it. I think she has allergies (I have them really bad, and Knoxville is the crappiest allergy city in the country) If I had to guess, I'd say she has a bit of a dog allergy (and of course we have a Husky!) But, it doesn't seem to bother her. She just always sounds like she needs to clear her throat.
